Who Will Win Eurovision 2009? Vote Now! 196
Wiwi’s Eurovision poll opened on May 1 and closed on May 15 at 11:59pm. During that time voters cast a total of 35,802 votes, making this one of the largest Eurovision polls in the world. The results are:
(1) Turkey: 22% (7,809)
(2) Greece: 22% (7,807)
(3) Romania: 16% (5,825)
(4) Albania: 14% (5,133)
(5) Malta: 7% (2,503)
(6) Lithuania: 3% (1,024)
(7) Azerbaijan: 2% (841)
(8) Armenia: 2% (660)
(9) Norway: 2% (650)
(10) France: 1% (517)

Greece's Sakis Rouvas
Turkey’s Hadise edged out Greece’s Sakis Rouvas by just two votes, essentially placing the two in a deadlock. Romania fell to third following Greece’s showing in the second semi-final. Albania, who was a pleasant surprise on Thursday, overtook Malta’s Chiara for the first time. Lithuania and Azerbaijan held steady, while Armenia finally passed Norway, who may be suffering in the poll due to months of overexposure. France once again placed in the Top 10, suggested it may do the best of the Big 4 (despite oddsmakers backing Britain).
These predictions should be taken seriously. In addition to its size, Wiwi’s poll has proven incredibly accurate. On May 14, it predicted nine of the nine countries advancing from the second semi-final, matching its success during the first semi-final on May 12. (In both cases, the tenth country was selected by a jury of producers). Click here to review Wiwi’s live blog of the first Eurovision semi-final and click here to review the second semi-final.

Hadise: Still on top
More than 22,000 votes have now been cast. Countries that did not advance from the semi-finals were removed from the poll and their votes deleted. The adjusted results are as follows:
(1) Turkey (31%)
(2) Romania (17%)
(3) Greece (12%)
(4) Malta (9%)
(5) Albania (5%)
(6) Lithuania (4%)
(7) Azerbaijan (4%)
(8) Norway (2%)
(9) France (2%)
(10) Armenia (2%)
Following a strong showing in the second semi-final, Greece’s Sakis Rouvas has doubled his share of votes to reach 12%, pushing him ahead of Malta’s secretary-cum-pop-star Chiara Siracusa, who stands fourth. Meanwhile, Albania’s pink tutu-wearing Kejsi Tola continues to rise in the polls, surpassing Lithuania’s Sasha Son and Azerbaijan’s Arash & AySel after moving ahead of Norway’s Alexander Rybak on Wednesday.

Monday, May 11
On the eve of the first Eurovision Semi-Final, Romania’s Elena Gheorghe is surging in Wiwi’s ongoing Eurovision prediction poll. More than 11,000 votes have now been cast, and Elena has leapfrogged eight places to reach second position with 12% of all votes. She narrowly edged out Malta’s Chiara (11%) who staged her own dramatic comeback last week (see below). Their ongoing resurgence continues to reduce the lead of longtime front-runner Hadise, the Belgian-born beauty and occasional lip-syncher representing Turkey, who stands at 38%—her lowest portion of votes since this poll started two weeks ago. Other countries reaching the Top Ten were: Azerbaijan (6%), Greece (5%), Norway, Portugal, United Kingdom and Armenia (3%), and Lithuania (2%).

Eight-thousand votes have now been cast in Wiwi Bloggs’ Eurovision poll, and Turkey’s Hadise maintains a comfortable lead with 43% of all votes. However, for the first time in nine days, Hadise has seen her lead shrink (down from Monday’s high of 49%). Meanwhile, Malta’s Chiara Siracusa is mounting a comeback. After shining during her two rehearsals this week, Chiara reclaimed voter support and jumped from eighth place five days ago to second place today, claiming 12% of the vote (up from 3% on Monday). Azerbaijan’s Aysel and Arush also had stellar performances and earned 9% of the vote, helping them push Greece’s Sakis Rouvas (6%) down to fourth place—his lowest placement thus far in Wiwi’s poll. Other countries in the Top 10 were: United Kingdom and Armenia (4%), Norway, Portugal and Sweden (3%) and Romania (2%).

Monday, May 4
Entering the second week of voting here on Wiwi Bloggs’ Eurovision Predictions, Turkey’s Hadise continues to dominate. Of the 4,500 votes cast so far, Turkey claimed an impressive 49%. Interestingly, the majority of Wiwi’s readers reside in Western Europe, suggesting that Hadise has continent-wide support in her bid to make voters hearts go Düm Tek Tek. And her momentum appears to be building: last week Hadise topped the charts in Belgium for the first time.
So it appears this has become a race for second place. Azerbaijan leapfrogged five places to share second position with Greece. Both claimed 6% of the vote. Other countries reaching the Top 10 were: United Kingdom, Sweden and Portugal (5%), Norway (4%), Malta and Estonia (3%), and Romania (2%). (Does everyone want to be Hadise? Other countries in the Top 10 were Sweden (8%), Norway and Azerbaijan (7%), Estonia, Malta and the United Kingdom (5%) and Iceland (3%). Thursday, April 30

May 16, 2009 @ 09:17:57
do you really think that kind of shit like Turkey, Greece, Romania, Albania, Ukraine is the good taste music? Be realistic, because it’s totally crap. You should listen Norway, United Kingdom, Lithuania, Malta, Iceland and Estonia. This should be in top 10, but I feel bad because I know the votes come in political ways.

I really like Sasha Son.
he has strong voice, and he’s very passionate…
it’s a pitty, that russians didn’t let him to have a video during the perfomance while russian artist can…. it’s not fair, is it? He said that without that video, his perfomance is nothing. He’s very sad…
so..good luck to Sasha.

And of course Kiara goes for the third time and Johny Logan went twice as a singer and won and another time as a composer and won again I think. And Dima Bilan for Russia and a lot of others.
I agree that it sould be for youngers but it is not. We are not making the rules. And the competition is too hard to ignore. So every country makes its best.
And you see that Cristina from Cyprus, a new one just 16 with a great voice, marvelous song and very good on stage with beatifull show, didn’t make it.
May 15, 2009 @ 08:34:35
Paparizou went to eurovision twice for greece. She came 3rd the first time singing “Die for you” as the singer of the duo Antique and 1st the second time in kievo 2005 with “Number one”. Every greek knows that. Where are you from anyway? and if you don’t know or don’t remember well you can ask or don’t write. Thank you
May 15, 2009 @ 05:38:23
Maria:
I have never seen any other people talking in such a negative way about her country. It’s one thing to be modest and to “know thyself” and a different one to oppose to your own country in a competition.
Not nice.

nobody was searing. i see somebody here was swearing about turkish countries. anyway, just ask armeninan what means “Jan Jan”. where did they get that word? and go see turkish or azeri vocabulary(dictionary) what it means.
music was good, i do not say anything bad about that. actually i liked the clip.
May 15, 2009 @ 01:26:50
speaking political, do not forget that Turkey and Greece were enemies. Tha is Skandinav countires fault what hapened now.. all skandinav countires voted only to its neighbors, not to songs! do not forget that. so what is wrong if Greece has the same music style like Turkey? they are neigbors. there are a lot of turkish live in Greece and a lot of greece live in Turkey.
