Wiwi Was Wrong: Romania Can Dance 18
Last week Wiwi suggested that Romanian pop star Elena Gheorghe cannot dance. To support that, he posted a video which shows Elena throwing her limbs around, bobbing up and down and occasionally adjusting her hair. That inspired more than 70 Romanians to e-mail Wiwi: some sent friendly messages, others sent hate mail, but all argued that Elena knows how to bust a move. After carefully reviewing the evidence, Wiwi is pleased to reveal that Elena is, like, the best dancer ever.
She’s so good that she recently placed third on Dansez Pentru Tine, the Romanian version of Dancing With the Stars. You can see highlights of her performances above (and a montage devoted to some beautiful Balkan girls). The hip-hop segment at the 0:55 mark is killer. To see the full clip from Romanian television—Elena dances to Beep by the Pussycat Dolls—you can click here. The classier among you may prefer the waltz below. Finally, Oana in Romania has sent these links where you can view Elena doing the paso doble, tango, and rock ‘n roll.
And for the record, Wiwi has always been a fan of Elena: she is the banner image on this web site (look up). Can we please call a truce, Romania?

Norway?! Wtf, am I deaf? What’s so great about that song? And Turkey’s song .. why so many points?
Azerbaijan deserved it. I’m happy for them ..
Finally, I guess it’s obvious that something was previously arranged ..
I’m so sorry for my Romanians .. Elena was great .. I don’t say she deserved winning, but .. c’mon .. ?! Moldova got more points than us ?!
It’s not fair. We struggle for nothing. We just don’t get points because all Europe thinks that we’re gypsies, we steal, we’re retarded .. and so on .. I was not so surprised to see that Spain gave us 6 points (many Romanian workers in Spain ..) …but damn .. Bulgary? Hungary? Ukraine? etc etc etc … They used to support us .. but today .. we got points from Ireland
) That’s weird .. damn weird ..
I guess tonight something happened. Almost the whole world was Norway-brainwashed. I’m disgusted. It reminds me of the 2006 edition .. (I think Norway’s song is nice, but under no circumstances a super-hit! As for the 2006 winner, I’d rather shut up .. Horror!!!)
Thank you for everything you’ve written here about Elena! It really made smile ..:)
All the best from Romania!

[...] Eight-thousand votes have now been cast in Wiwi Bloggs’ Eurovision poll, and Turkey’s Hadise maintains a comfortable lead with 44% of all votes. However, for the first time in nine days, Hadise has seen her lead shrink (down from Monday’s high of 49%). That’s mainly because Malta’s Chiara Siracusa is mounting a comeback. After shining during her first two rehearsals, Chiara reclaimed voter support and jumped from eighth place five days ago to second place today, claiming 10% of the vote. Azerbaijan also had stellar performances and earned 9% of the vote, helping them push Greece’s Sakis Rouvas down to fourth place—his worst performance thus far in Wiwi’s poll. Other countries in the Top 10 were: United Kingdom, Armenia, Norway, Portugal, Sweden, and Romania. [...]
