Eurovision Second Semi-Final Prediction 0

Wiwi is still recovering from Tuesday’s semi-final. Thank goodness he had plenty of valium to calm his nerves. Plus he was able to take comfort knowing that his readers correctly predicted 9 out of 10 countries advancing from the first semi-final. (The tenth spot decided by the jury was never going to be predictable, was it? Wiwi thinks it went to Israel). Anyway, based on the more than 19,000 votes cast in Wiwi’s totally scientific and ongoing Eurovision poll, the nine countries advancing to the final after the tele-vote on Thursday will be:

Will Thursday belong to Sakis Rouvas?

Greece's Cover Boy

(1) Greece

(2) Albania

(3) Azerbaijan

(4) Lithuania

(5) Norway

(6) Moldova

(7) Estonia

(8) Ukraine

(9) Croatia

Wiwi suspects that the tenth spot (jury selection) will go to Denmark or Ireland. They both have a mainstream sound that will play well with producers looking to sell records.

If you plan on betting on the second semi-final tonight, DO NOT BET ON NORWAY. He will advance, but he will not win outright. The majority of countries voting in this semi-final are Balkan, Eastern European and former Soviet states. They will prefer Greece, Azerbaijan and Ukraine to Norway.  The oddsmakers and betting agencies are too focused on the final and have not factored in that tonight’s semi-final only has three Western European countries performing (Ireland, Norway, Denmark). That has a big impact on voting, since only performing countries vote in the semis. Duh.
