Farojournalen.no, an online Norwegian music publication, is reporting that the Russian division of Universal Records wants 23-year old Alexander Rybak to release an album in Russian. “We believe in this artist” Dmitry Konnov, the president of Universal Russia, told the site. “Right now, he is the biggest media personality here.”
Rybak, born in Minsk, lived in the Soviet Union until he was four years old and speaks fluent Russian. He became a media darling in the Russian-speaking world in the lead-up to Eurovision, and his victory has only heightened his celebrity.
