An insider with connections to the RTE, Ireland’s national broadcaster, has revealed the five contestants who will compete in Eurosong 2011, Ireland’s national selection contest. Their songs have not yet been released, so Wiwi has embedded videos of recent performances below. Consider it a musical amuse bouche. Love, Wiwi (via escdaily.com)

1. Jedward, the big-haired former X-Factor contestants:

Singing a medley that includes “Ice, Ice Baby”:

Singing Blink 182’s “All the Small Things”:

2. Nikki Kavanagh, who was a backing vocalist for Niamh Kavanagh in Oslo:

3. Don Mescall, who is trying to represent Ireland for the third time:

Singing “There By the Grace of God”:

4. The Vard Sisters, who placed second at the 1998 Irish national selection contest:

Singing “The Hermit Song”:

5. An unnamed quartet consisting of 2 male and 2 female artists, all of whom are signed with the EMI record label.

You couldn’t find anything a bit more contemporary for Jedward than a clip of their first audition from May 2009? Not the videos for their singles, nothing from their 3 recent tours?
