Did Denmark’s A Friend in London Steal Their Act From the Swedes? (VIDEO) 12
Wiwi and Vebooboo’s readers are well-versed in the choreography controversy that has turned Sweden’s Eric Saade into Public Enemy #1 in Russia. But he’s not the only Eurovision 2011 act coping with allegations of plagiarism. YouTube users have accused the Danish entry, A Friend in London, of stealing their entire melody from Andreas Johnson’s 2006 Melodifestivalen entry ‘Sing for Me.’ The Danish insist they’ve done nothing wrong, but we’ll let you decide by watching this side-by-side comparison.

That it so ridiculous!
A Friend In London havent “stoled” anything from anyone!
Remember, its not A Friend In London that wrote the song, they just performed it! It was an other man that wrote the song. I cant say if he got a little inspired to the melodi by the other song, but I dont think he stoled it. There are so many songs that reminds of another song, and thats just the way it is. You can fast write a song that reminds of another song, all though you never heard the song that it reminds of!

johnson denies it being a copy, but perhaps the tabloids know better?

I listened and i’m not convinced these are alike. i like danish entry but think it is similar to Killers song “are we human or are we dancers” but its good on its own merit

Compare the refrain’s only because the most of the song’s power comes from their refrains. I cannot imagine that the song having its refratin like a “5th in row cover” of the same melody (actually 6th because the original song was a very old chinesse song) to win the international competition.

Just to remind why this song should NOT WIN:
Swedish (Andreas Johnson) – “Sing for me” dated on You Tube in 2006

German (Jasmine Wagner know as Blumchen) – “Herz an Herz” dated in 2006

Japanese (Mucc) – “Yasashi Uta” dated in 2007

or German Future Trans United – “Face 2 Face” dated in 2007

I liked this entry from Denmark very much, but when I saw almost THE SAME KEY NUTE repeated in all these other songs I completely lost my interest. TOO MANY SONGS WITH THE SAME NUTE!

They DO sound similar, but not like the same. “Sing for me” is more beatish, and “New tomorrow” is more melodic, more like progresive rock.
And actually, both of them sound a lot like “Love Shine a Light”. Maybe something like this or another common influence could explain the similarity, but I don’t feel they songs are the same.

I realy don’t like them ! the song are the same and I don’t know …
May 07, 2011 @ 13:54:35
um, looks obvious that they DID copy to me…

RIDICULOUS. ALL THESE ALLEGATIONS ARE MADE BY BITTER FANS OF OTHER CONTESTANTS.
