Kate Ryan: Is Belgium’s Biggest Disapointment Planning a Eurovision Comeback? 3
Her song “Je t’adore” is one of the most-played tracks at Eurovision disco nights from Israel to Ireland. Yet Kate Ryan is still known as one of the biggest underachievers in Eurovision Nation. A front-runner with the bookies in 2006, the Belgian superstar failed to advance from the semi-final despite her big name—and even bigger vocals.
But it looks like Ryan has put the pain of 2006 behind her, and is ready to right that wrong. She recently teased her fans on Twitter by asking “Back to Eurovision? Yes or No?” And in a recent interview with eurosong.be, Kate admitted that she’s seriously tempted to get back on the stage and lasso some douze points. “The desire to return to participate in the Contest is back. The VRT can definitely call me. I thought it was super fun in 2006, despite the great disappointment.”
Ryan has been a busy girl of late. She’s currently touring Europe to promote her new album, and believes all that mileage will help her this time around. “Since 2006 I have had a lot of action and a lot of experience. This time would be totally different.”
Given Kate’s reputation for disappointing Eurovision fans, Vebooboo and Wiwi are a tad skeptical. As you may remember, rumors swirled back in November 2009 that Kate would team up with Spanish Eurovision contestant Soraya in Oslo.
