Dana Rosemary Scallon Unlikely to Win Irish Presidency 1
Her name may be Dana, but do not mistake this devout Catholic for the Israeli transsexual.
On Sep. 20 Wiwi and Vebooboo reported that Dana Rosemary Scallon, who won ESC in 1970 with “All Kinds of Everything,” had thrown her hat into the mix for the Irish presidency. But plenty of folks doubted that she could secure sufficient backing from local councils to officially enter the race. Well, it looks Dana—who hosts a religious chat show and is firmly against abortion—has drummed up enough support and she is now there like swimwear.
Dana’s no stranger to politics. She has already served one term as member of the European parliament, and even ran for president back in 1997, when she finished third out of five candidates with a respectable 14% of the vote.
Wiwi and Vebooboo are torn. On the one hand, we support Dana’s bid for the presidency because it reminds the world of the talent found on the Eurovision stage. Her victory would solidify Ireland’s positive vibes toward the contest, which Niamh Kavanagh and Jedward have helped foment during the past two contests. On the flip side, we seriously doubt that Dana is a fan of what Eurovision has come to symbolize — glitter, kitsch, and lots of gays. (We bet gay lecturer and rival presidential candidate David Norris has a lot to say about that!)
No need to be too scared, though. According to Paddy Power, the Irish betting agency, Dana is currently the candidate least likely to win with her odds at 250/1.

her song is not worthy of a president.
