Estonia: Eesti Laul Receives Record Number of Submissions 0

Estonia may be a small country, but it’s starting to get a whole lot of Eurovision attention.  Three years ago the tiny nation of 1.3 million people changed gears and ERR, the state broadcaster, started hosting a televised competition similar to Melodifestivalen, albeit on a smaller scale. Last year 140 submissions were made to the competition.  Yesterday it was revealed that 159 submissions were received—a 14% increase.  We take that as a sign that the nation will offer something even better than last year’s Rockefeller Street. On Thursday we will find out which 20 submissions will compete for the plane fare to Baku.  The semi-finals will take place on February 18th and 25th, with the finals on March 3th.
