Faqan Safarov has won the fourth heat of Milli Secim Turu—Azerbaijan’s endless national selection contest.

Azerbaijan still thinks the best way to choose a national representative is to force contestants to sing covers of iconic Eurovision songs. It’s seriously embarrassing, and just brings into sharper focus the fact that many of the contestants cannot sing, dance, or pronounce words in English. Faqan’s version of Alexander Rybak’s “Fairytale” screams “karaoke night.” He pronounces “sweethearts” as “sveethearts.” He completely lacks charisma. And his choreography consists of tapping his foot. He’s so bored by his performance that at 2:20 he runs in place to give himself something to do.
