Evgeni Plushenko, Dima Bilan’s Eurovision Sidekick, Returns to the Ice 0

Olympic figure skating champion Evgeni Plushenko—he who danced effeminately in circles on a tiny ice pad during Dima Bilan’s ‘Believe’ at Eurovision 2008—is back!  The 29 year-old revived his figure skating career after a two-year absence by winning the Russian nationals in Saransk last week.

After winning three Olympic medals, three World titles, six European titles, and eight Russian titles you’d think he would call it quits.  But no. Plushenko has pulled a Sakis Rouvas (and a Chiara…and a Dana International…) and has returned for skating in time to prep himself for the 2014 Olympics in his home country. Hopefully he’ll have better luck that those veteran Eurovision stars did.

Plushenko is no stranger to comebacks, though.  Perhaps inspired by the amazing experience he had on the ‘ice’ at Eurovision 2008, Evgeni returned to skating after a three-year absence just in time for the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, where he won the silver.  Will an extra year of preparation this time around help him take gold in Sochi?  Let us know what you think of his Russian national-winning performances below!
