Ever since William suggested that Jedward would devour Donna McCaul at Ireland’s Eurosong contest, he’s been receiving hate mail from Donna’s fans. They point out that Jedward only narrowly defeated last year’s runner-up Nikki Kavanagh (her song “Falling” was awesome). And they suggest that Donna’a haters need to listen to her karaoke cover of Adele’s “Someone Like You.” If you do, you’ll realize she is very talented. But should she represent Ireland at Eurovision instead of Jedward? Have a listen to Donna and Jedward singing below and then vote in our poll.

jedward are going to win the whole of eurovision. they are the best looking guys and all the teens love them they are famous and celebrity all the other contestants trying to enter are wasting their time from ireland. firstly its about image. Ireland should have given some one with out millions a chance to further their career or start one. but Jedward have amassed millions and they need so much more recognition before they break america and they will do it this time.

While i may not be a fan of Jedward you have to look at it in a practical sense i mean like its been aid Jedward has built up a major fan base in europe since the last contest.
They have appeared on shows in Germany and Sweden as far as i know
They are currently continuing with their European Tour.

Jedward have an active and devoted fanbase in many European countries since Eurovision – the twins have toured Sweden and Germany since. They go on tour in Sweden, Germany, Austria and Estonia this January.

For their panto in Dublin I and many others flew from the UK to see it. While there I met people of all nationalities that had done the same, US, Canada, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Italy etc.

If Ireland really want to win Eurovision this year they would be mad to send in an unknown instead of Jedward. Record sales wise Jedward did win Eurovision last year.

HANZ, you called Jedward a “useless reality show contestant” . do you actually read news about them or you’re just trying to be so smart coz they are way passed the so called ” reality contestant” they have improved & achieved a lot since then. They even received a recognition in ESC voted by all journalist as Best Artist. Maybe you should try to go to Eurosong. You must be the one “with the talent” im so looking forward to hear you sing and dance.

Remember that Eurovision isn’t about talent these days. Remember Nadine last year? Great voice. But only 18th place. And Jedward? 8th place. And this year they can do even better. Ireland got 12 points from the UK last year because they have a really huge fan base there. Now imagine: They have fans in over 15 different countries in Europe now and all of these will vote loads of times like the UK ones last year.

Obviously we have to wait to hear the songs, but on the face of it, I believe it’s really clever of Ireland to be considering sending Jedward again this year. I’ve seen since last year, how incredibly popular they have become right across Europe. They have worked hard, to build up a loyal fan base who I think can be relied upon to vote for them, to turn this chance down in order to send a virtual unknown would be complete madness in my opinion

I totally agree with you Hans. Why not stage an open-call contest for ALL IRISH PEOPLE and not just these artists who have already had their shot? Sending the same act two years in a row would be a joke. They didn’t win the first time. They won’t win now.

Neither should represent Ireland. Donna proved along with her brother, that she has very limited talent, and only made ireland cringe at their performance. Jedward are a novelty act, that are way past their sell by date. There is too much talent in Ireland today, so sending useless reality show contestants to represent us only proves that the joke is now well and truly over.

I will need to hear Donna and Jedward’s songs before I make up my mind. Donna has the voice. Jedward have the star quality. It’s a tough one, no? R x

Well, for starters, you can check out “team donna” comments on the post linked here. Just because Jedward fans are enthusiastic it doesn’t make them “rabid.” http://wiwibloggs.com/2012/01/05/ireland-can-donna-mccaul-overcome-jedward-at-eurosong-2012/13504/

Of course Jedward will devour Donna in fact I expect her to come around third unless she has a great song (unlikely) or the competition is brutal (which I expect it will be)

my opinion is this 1) Donna has a great voice but like it was said before its not all about the voice anymore when it comes to the eurovision. 2) Jedward have an established fan bas from last year in many countries including Austria, Sweden, Denmark,Germany, Estonia, Russia and many more. 3) Jedward have been on television programmes around europe and have been on tour since the last eurovision so they are keeping themselves known. 4) and not saying it in bad taste but people may only remember donna for her last eurovision entry for ireland which was not the… Read more »

I hadn’t heard Donna’s fans were sending hate mail Jackie Hopkins? That’s sad if true. The main thing is getting the best opportunity for Ireland in Eurovision. If it turns out Donna is The One I’d support that and never send hate mail at all. Support Ireland for the win!

Jedward already have a huge fanbase in Europe who WILL vote for them, Ireland would crazy to waste that oppotunity and send a virtual unknown…Jedward are have the WOW factor..I really thing they can win this time.

More to the point Jedward might take home the Eurovision trophy for Ireland. This is not to say Donna doesn’t have a lovely voice. It’ll be down to the song, presentation and wow factor. Mostly the wow factor. Good luck to all contestants though.

Jedward have the XFactor required to win Eurovision .. apart from that they are fantastic Ambassadors for Ireland. …..also shame on Donna’s fans for sending hatemail – definitely NOT what Eurosong is about!

Donna would go unnoticed in Baku, nobody will have an opinion on her. Jedward will create headlines.

It takes more than “voice” to win Eurosong & Eurovision. You have to have that “Eurovision factor , the song, and personality as well. Jedward excel in it . And last year Jedward were penalized , deduction of points due to UMI mistaked releasing the song early
