Lithuania—the country that gave us crotch-thruster Donny Montell in 2012—kicked off its national selection earlier this week. If the group Saules Broliai s any indicator, it’s going to be a long and painful contest.

The group of guitar strummers put on their worst-fitting maroon pants and sang a number called “Loreen.” They promise to “do no harm,” but they have already inflicted pain on us with this rather monotonous number. They’re like a strange cross between Sjonni’s Friends (Iceland 2011) and InCulto (Lithuania 2010). Even more frightening is the fact this group won both the public vote AND the jury vote.

I don’t believe the results of the Lithuanian jury have been published. They aren’t supposed to be revealed until next week’s show.

That’s just awful. Really really awful. It’s actually very discomforting to watch, as well, listen too. His voice is almost as bad as nails on a chalk board. This has to be a joke.
