Margaret Berger has emerged as a front-runner and fan favourite to win Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix on Saturday evening. She’s currently leading our MGP poll, and is lighting up fan sites across the net. Can “I Feed You My Love” win this weekend? And how would it fare at Eurovision?

This is like a female version of Kasabian. I love the song. One of my favourites this year.
Margarets Depeche Mode kopia lär inte gå långt. Den är för mogen och “tråkig”. Bra låt men eurovision handlar också lite om showen, vare sig man vill det eller inte. 30 bidrag senare kommer ingen minnas henne. Adelen kommer sticka ut med sin show utan tvekan. Hon behöver öva lite på sången men hon har 2-3 månader på sig att göra det om hon vinner. Jag hoppas hon gör det. Bombo är en välidgt hittig låt.

The dance song (Adelen) and the ballad (Annsofi) each have in common their own established base of genre enthusiasts. But these are also factions of often conflicting values, with one actively despising the favourite of the other. Against those divisions Margaret Berger effectively hedges her bets. “Bombo” would bomb in Malmö based on jury votes alone… It would be this year’s “Zaleilah” (and Mandinga had more personality – and a better voice, in my honest, though also biased, opinion). While “I Feed Your Love” could be this year’s “Euphoria”, in terms of a classier, cleaner, and definitely more current act. (Although I admit that I am not so sure about its success – it all depends on the other acts; I think Anouk could be a stronger contender.) Even i’m in love of Bombo, i think we should be realistic about this song… Adelen is a gorgeous girl, but she’s not a great singer & Bombo is a song that has been heard before… this style of music isn’t new
I Think Margaret Berger in Eurovision is a Risky option for Norway, she can do it great and get a top 10 placement or just been out of the final, i’m kinda divided for her!
I agree with John and Norty on this subject. ‘Bombo’ is funny, catchy and memorable. But she can’t sing live and the juries won’t support it. I also think that juries overall never support these cheap songs with spanish influences (Spain 2009, Spain 2011) The performance also should be better. I think that if Norway sends this song to Malmö it only could be a borderline qualifier because the televote could support this song. The build-up of the song is good. In Turkey’s absence, and with Greece and Cyprus shying away from dance songs this year, one could argue that Adelen *might* get more of the field to herself, strategically speaking. With enough preparation, I believe she would have a strong chance against the known entries in their current state. But of course, they too will improve, and unless the remaining NFs go horribly wrong there’s every reason to believe there are better acts to come. And in regards to the Robyn comparison – whilst Margaret does have a similar vocal style, musically she is a bit less “pop” than Robyn and more “pop-rock” – the synths in “I Feed You My Love” are almost industrial.
Besides, if you’re saying Margaret is generic, then what about “Bombo”! I’ve heard that kind of Latin-inspired party music thousands of times before!
Well, Margaret Berger definitely deserves to win, but given Norway’s poor choices over the past few years, that doesn’t really count for anything… “I Feed You My Love” is the kind of mature, non dance-orientated pop music that isn’t often seen at ESC. Margaret is clearly an experienced performer and knows what she is doing, unlike her main rival. I think that if selected, “I Feed You My Love” could achieve Norway’s best result since “Fairytale” – (I predict a Top 10 placing). “Bombo” on the other hand would simply be a repeat of Norway’s efforts from 2011 and 2012… Read more »
Bombo and Adelen will never get trough the finales in ESC, and if she does it will be a jumbo for Norway like the last 3 years, she is out of tune, no routine and the song sounds like a lot of other songs, nothing unique here.
