The show must go on! After a surprising first semi-final, the second semi-final of the Romanian Selectia Nationala is on tonight, starting from 20:CET, on TVR and eurovision.tvr.ro. WiwiBloggs readers have been eager to cast their votes and pick their favourites.

Andrei Leonte

To my surprise, Cristian Prajescu’s overly romantic ballad “The Best Thing In Life Is To Love” is our readers’ favourite. Sixty-two voters, or around one in four of you, want him to advance to the Final with “The Best Thing in Life Is to Love”. Perhaps not so surprisingly, X Factor winner Andrei Leonte has come second with his pop song “Paralyzed”, followed by Renee Santana (“What Is Love”), Elena Carstea (“Spinning”), Narcis Iustin Ianau (“Seven”) and Leticia (“We Are One”).

Baby-faced Cristian Prajescu (pictured at top) may be young—at 16, he is the youngest Romanian contestant this year. But he is nevertheless very talented. Dubbed the “Romanian Bryan Adams” by the local media, he is virtually unknown in the music world. He doesn’t even have a Facebook artist page yet! But he’s gathering a lot of support after entering the Eurovision Selectia Nationala and advancing to the semi-finals. Here is his live audition in the city of Iasi, which was closest to his small home town, Roman:

I expect the second semi-final to be even more disputed than the first, given that the overall quality of the songs is a bit higher and there is no clear favourite, other than Andrei Leonte, who has an army of fans behind him. But so did boy band Station 4, which failed to qualify for the Final, apparently lacking jury support. So the race is wide open!

Romanians, should you want to be in top 5, I as an outsider of Romania, advise you to vote Renee Santana. Powerful voice, nice show, well known name (niece of Carlos Santana) and really nice song.

Renee Santana at MALMO.

Cristian Prajescu has a super boring song, an average voice and absolutely nothing to make him stand out. Don’t get it how people can vote for him.

Wow. With the horrible results in the first Semi-final a lot is riding on the second. You almost need to flip these poll results upside down to have Romania having any chance of performing in the Final in Malmo. The top songs listed in the poll are largely boring and dreadful with the exception of Paralyzed and Spinning.
