Wiwi: When viewers pick up the phone to vote for Koza Mostra they won’t be voting for the song. They’ll be voting for the party atmosphere and cheer that this group spits on you at every turn before smacking your ass and giving you a high five. The yellow-and-gray backdrop morphs constantly, the drums are amped up, and the Riverdance-style choreography encourages you to let out an epic, “WTF?” At the centre of all this chaos is the avuncular Agathonas Iakovidis who plucks his ukulele with spunk and pizzazz. I don’t care what anyone thinks of the song. This is going straight to the final.

Vebooboo: Just as the Greeks don’t pay their taxes, they clearly haven’t listened to SVT. During this first rehearsal they showed up in ratty-ass t-shirts and jeans, rather than the outfits they plan to wear on stage next Thursday. In light of this it’s slightly difficult to assess fully the staging of this act. But I am quite confident that this will be one of the more memorable acts of the second semi-final, a la Hora din Moldova in 2009. This isn’t my type of music but it does well every year.

I am bored to let them say things without knowing what is happening in Greece. they stigmatize us and they talk with not respect for us, at every opportunity!it is my first time which i sit down to deal with them but I think it exceeded all limits, tell us thieves and idlers , at the TV and newspapers and this has given right to every ignorant to judge us ,this is actually our mistake because we allow this ,in other countries don’t allowed them to give labels in their people. if you really want to say things first meet… Read more »

It is indeed sometimes funny to use sterotypes when trying to describe typical behaviour of specific groups of people. But this stylistic element should be used with a good knowledge of the person or group you refer to. And politics as well as religion are social mine-fields: hardly ever funny. As to tax evading, that is a problem in Greece, but the problem is more complex than just “most Greeks do not pay taxes”. In fact, people with average and low income usually have no possibility to evade, while most Greeks with high and very high income can easily bring… Read more »

EUROVISION IN 2006 IN ATHENS WAS AMAZING. GREECE WAS THE WONDERFULL LAND. WE ARE THE SAME PEOPLE. BUT, EUROPE HAS CHANGE HER MIND AFTER GEBELS PROPAGANDA. I DEMAND RESPECT FOR THE GREEK PEOPLE WHO WORK VERY HARD. I PAY 5 TIMES MORE TAXES AND MY SALARY IS 1/2. SO DONT TELL ME THAT I DONT PAY. YOU DONT KNOW ME.

what does this contest have to do with the greek crisis?
I’ve always known that eurovision is a political contest..
instead of paying attention to the performance people care more about the countries’ situation if they are western or southern and shit like that..
that’s why i hate europe fuckin douchebags ..

Being humorous is totally different from being insulting! I would’ t mind you saying for example ‘they came drank’ and forgot their outfits (which I repeat this didn’t apply only for the Greek delegation) But really I dont get the correlation between ‘Greeks not paying taxes and Greeks didnt wear the outfits of their performance!!!!

I guess , in your next comment, you can also add :GREEKS HAVE NO SENSE OF HUMOUR EITHER………………………….

needles to say that especially the German sites should not write anything about the countries of South Europe since they are the only ones to have won a lot of money during this crisis…and again playing political games

What your friends say for some people in Greece is true. Its not wise to generalize this and write it in a post that everyone can read that does not have any Greek friends like you to explain. As far as the media are concerned thank God we are mature enough to understand that most of these articles are political driven. As far as the competition is concerned may the song with the most “likes” win. Have a nice weekend

Nat and Alexandra, can I emphasise once again that this blog is meant to be fun and infused with attitude? We often include analogies and metaphors as a way of hyping our commentary. We are not politicians, nor do we want to be… And again please bear in mind that at the end of the day both Wiwi and I think this will advance to the Final easily. Having said that, Alexandra, my 4 Greek friends at business school all admit that the Greek economy suffers from the fact that a number of people do not report their full income… Read more »

What an insult from your side dear Veboodoo! Who told you that we don’t pay our taxes? Who gave you the right to judge us without coming and see, live and talk with the people of this country. Even then you don’t have any right to talk about a suffering nation. This is a music concert ….

Vebooboo: ‘Just as the Greeks don’t pay their taxes, they clearly haven’t listened to SVT. ‘

SUCH INAPPROPRIATE COMMENT if I am allowed to comment…………Needless to mention Greeks were not the only ones to appear in other than the semi outfits

In any case, this song will so very easily qualify to the final and achieve a high ranking there

“Just as the Greeks don’ t pay their taxes…” What kind of joke is this? How do you know what happens in Greece and whether we pay or not our taxes? From all the monstrous lies you hear on tv I suppose. Well, I suggest you turn it off, it’s extremely bad for the brain!!!
