Marco Mengoni has been very busy since finishing in a respectable 7th place at Eurovision. Since May, he has embarked on a nationwide tour and released his latest single “Non Passerai”. Marco premiered the music video for his new single today, and although we don’t see his face on the video until the end, we can tell by the very expensive looking suit that it is definitely him! The video can be watched here:

“Non Passerai” is very much like “L’essenziale”, so if you liked his Eurovision entry, you’ll love this song! It is a ballad sung in Italian, and in typical Marco fashion, has plenty of those screechy notes that slightly resemble an opera singing cat (in a good way). The song title translates as “You Will Not Pass” and is the typical piano pop that you find yourself singing along to, whether you speak Italian or not.

The music video for “Non Passerai” is a lot quirkier than “L’essenziale”. It features a man running around the streets of Paris with a cardboard box on his head attempting to take Polaroids with strangers, holding a cardboard heart he carries throughout the video. As you do. He later stores them on a wall at his house, and although that sounds creepy, Marco has a way of making the gesture extremely cute. He could’ve at least taken the box off his head, just to avoid scaring the Parisians.

“Non Passerai” is the third single to come from Marco’s latest album “#PRONTOACORRERE”, and if you like the sound of the new single, you will certainly like the sound of the album. It’s great to see Marco is sticking to his style during and after Eurovision, and is still making music videos that everyone will enjoy watching, whether they understand the lyrics to the song or not. That’s the reason why we loved him during Eurovision, and still love him after Eurovision!

“Non Passerai” – Lyrics
A questo incrocio
dimmi dove si va
con un passo in più.
Tu che forse un po’
hai scelto di già
di non amarmi più.
E come quadri appesi
leve senza pesi
che non vivono.
Come quando c’era
una vita intera
due che si amano.
E salgo ancora in alto perché
è lì che c’eri tu.
Ma ora serve il coraggio per me
di guardare giù.
E non c’è niente che resiste
al mio cuore quando insiste
perché so che tu non passerai mai,
che non passerà
(non passerai)
non mi passerai
(non passerai).

Ok allora adesso confesso
non avevo che te.
Come faccio a vivere adesso
solo, senza te?
E senza i tuoi sorrisi
e tutti i giorni spesi
oggi che non c’è.
E che è una porta chiusa e
nessun’altra scusa da condividere.

E salgo ancora in alto perché
è lì che c’eri tu.
Ma ora serve il coraggio per me
di guardare giù.
E non c’è niente che resiste
al mio cuore quando insiste
perché so che tu non passerai mai,
che non passerà
(non passerai)
non mi passerai
(non passerai).

E quanto amore mancherà
e troppo rumore in un giorno
che non va.
E non posso comprendere
che non passerà.

E salgo ancora in alto perché
è lì che c’eri tu.
Ma ora serve il coraggio per me
di guardare giù.
E non c’è niente che resiste
al mio cuore quando insiste
perché so che tu non passerai mai,
che non passerà
(non passerai)
non mi passerai
(non passerai)

Great low key song, relaxing, love hearing the Italian language 🙂 Didn’t really notice the “screechy” parts as you say… maybe I’m too accustomed to Cezar 😛

I like it although its no where near as good as his last song “Pronto a Correre” but then that would be asking a lot.
