Maja Keuc—the last Slovenian singer to advance to the Eurovision final—is known for hitting the high notes and being able to freestyle like her idol Christina Aguilera. But Maja is ready to move beyond that comparison. She caught up with wiwibloggs.com at the 2013 Eurobash in Manchester and told us that she is working with top-flight producers in Sweden to craft a slightly new sound. The goal is to make her music a bit more commercial. “It’s going to still be pop in general but it’s going to be supported by groovy things,” she says. If those things are half as groovy as she is, we’re in for a treat! You can watch the complete interview below.

@ Julian , I understand she was 13th , that’s why I’m saying her entry needed something more with an edge and to stand out .. She had everything else , best voice that year and charisma ..

@Eurovisiondco :)) She was 13th in the final, that is as far to winning as it could be. Rigging of votes comes with the introduction of juries. Hopefully the new change of rules, making their names public ahead of competition and all their votes, will reduce some of the rigging and show the hidden influence where they are (from EBU/ national or foreign broadcasters/ betting companies/ record companies / etc).

She really does speak almost perfect English, I can barely even hear an accent. Well anyways, Maja was one of my favourites in 2011, and no doubt Slovenia’s best. I wish she’d return in 2014.

She is a true talent .. If her 2011 entry just had a little more edge an origanility she could have won .. Then again 2011 was ridged by the Azeris to win ..
