Following on from her infamous cover of the song, it looks as if Eurovision winner Linda Martin could be about to “Get Lucky” and sing live with one of the men responsible for the summer smash.

Now before y’all get overexcited, I’m talking about Nile Rodgers rather than Daft Punk or Pharrell Williams. But that’s still a pretty big deal. In case you don’t know, he’s the long haired one in the video and is responsible for the song’s distinctive guitar riff.

He is due to play a number of shows in Dublin over the coming weeks and according to the Irish Independent it is highly probable that Linda Martin, who is on the guestlist, will join him for a rendition of “Get Lucky”. However, the reliability of this information is questionable as the paper’s source is an anonymous “insider” who says:

It’s very possible that Linda will be singing Get Lucky again. This time with Nile Rodgers.

Although, the paper does quote the guitarist as saying that “I know Linda about a gazillion years”, so the likelihood of a duet between the two would not be beyond the realms of possibility. But after the reaction her last attempt garnered should she risk performing the song a second time?

Despite her performance became a viral hit, the Irish media were very critical. In a tongue in cheek review The Daily Edge wrote:

#GET MUCKY We’re really finding it difficult to disagree with the sentiment … regarding Linda Martin and that performance. Generations to come will ask their grandparents and great grandparents “do you remember where you were when you heard it?” and “tell us what it was like granny, please?”.

Personally, I didn’t think it was that bad, but am I in the minority? What do y’all think? Should Linda “Get Lucky Again” if given the chance? Or should she just sit it out? After all, she’s had a pretty hectic time in the aftermath of Petra Mede’s drag queen slur.

People need to learn that somewhere down the line in life some things have to change and certain things can no longer be the done the same way … and just embrasse change whatever that may be. You lose some, you win some and this would be my most honest advice I would give Linda Martin … Actually let me quote portuguese singer Simone de Oliveira (ESC 1965, 1969) who said this “I’m in my 70s and I hope my closest friends will be brave and honest enough to tell me to stop doing anything that will make me look… Read more »

Linda is not young anymore, but that does not mean she should stop doing what she has been doing her whole life just because she is not young.

Well, the song is essentially an ode to the disco era, and she’s in the glittery disco dress, so that’s appropriate. It’s nice to hear her strong vocals in the bridge, too. But apart from that, I mean, her timing is mostly too far behind the music, and dressed like that it’s kind of odd to hear her saying “We’re up all night to get some.”
