UPDATE: ON 22 NOVEMBER 2013 SFR ANNOUNCED THAT GOSIA ADVANCED TO THE FINAL 18!
We’re all wishing that Poland—land of Eurovision’s Next Top Model Winner 2011 Magdalena Tul—would return to Eurovision. But if that’s not going to happen, seeing a Polish singer on the Eurovision stage would offer a small consolation.
And at least one Polish star is trying. Popular Polish singer Gosia Andrzejewicz is entering a song into the Swiss National Final for the second time. She entered the song “You” in the contest back in 2011, and will now give it a go with “I’m Not Afraid,” which she has already uploaded onto Switzerland’s Eurovision Platform.
“I’m not afraid” was written by popular American producer and DJ Andres Fresko. It’s already been viewed more than 100,000 times on YouTube and was played on Polish radio station ESKA. Readers of Macedonian music website ZaSe.mk threw it some love, and so is wiwibloggs.com. We’re jamming to this in the library right now!
Gosia previously took part in Eurovision Song Contest in 2005 with Ivan i Delfin. They represented Poland with “Czarna Dziewczyna” and finished 11th in the semifinal. (For her part, Gosia played an accordion in the background.) One year later she participated in the Belarussian National Final with “Dangerous Game” and finished 14th.
Poland’s national broadcaster has yet to decide whether Poland will take part in Eurovision Song Contest 2014. Perhaps they still have a bad taste in their mouth from Eurovision 2011. Magdalen Tul’s “Jestem” finished last in the semifinal.
