While on the promotional tour for new album “Loved Me Back To Life”, Celine Dion appeared as a guest on ITV’s “The Jonathan Ross Show” last night, and talked about her Eurovision experience.

As part of the wide ranging interview, where Celine discussed her life in Las Vegas and how she initially didn’t want to sing “My Heart Will Go On”, Jonathan asked her what she remembered of Eurovision. Here’s what she had to say:

I do remember that, first of all it was a very strange adventure for me. First of all I receive a call and I was in Montreal, where I live and they want me to go to Ireland and they want me to represent Switzerland … as a French Canadian Quebecoise, for the song contest. I didn’t get it, so I’m like but what about people in Switzerland? What are they going to think? Where’s she coming from? We don’t even know her.

But what I did is, that I went there and I really, I felt like a horse. And let me elaborate on that. You can bet on the artist that you want the country to win. So my husband, who is a gambler, [Celine raises an eyebrow] bet on me. A lot of money, and I felt like I was a horse and I needed to race. I really needed to win that race. Did you see me? I was like this [Celine impersonates a jockey riding a horse]. I looked like a horse and I felt like a horse.

But Switzerland, we won. So  they loved me after. They gave me a lot of chocolate.

Celine also proved herself to be a very entertaining guest and a good sport. When Jonathan mocked the fruit metaphor she used to describe her new sound, she started to sing about squashed bananas (as you do).

And while most celebrities get very touchy about their looks, particularly when certain “procedures” are alluded to, Celine took such questions in her stride:

Jonathan: You look kind of different…
Celine: You want to elaborate on that? Or just show the clip?
Jonathan: Well, no, we’ll just show the clip. I’m not saying you looked better or worse. I’m just saying you look, everyone looks different when they’re younger.
Celine [sarcastically]: Oh, thanks honey.

You gotta love her!

An amazing interview. Céline is always having fun with herself and so carefree about everything. Someone who has a life outside of the Eurovision umbrella …
