On Friday the 13th Poli Genova, Bulgaria’s 2011 Eurovision contestant, won Musical Academy. The Bulgarian tv show brought together successful artists in a series of primetime sing-offs. Poli walked away with 100 thousand levs (€51,000), and a certificate ‘that she can really sing’.
The favourite for many weeks of the competition, Poli wasn’t exactly a shock winner. She won the money, and a motorbike, having earned nearly 60% of the vote. Billy Ocean (not the UK Billy Ocean, but the Bulgarian Billy Ocean) came second. To wrap up the show, Poli sang her Eurovision 2011 song “Na Inat”, which really should have made the finals!
