Happy holidays, everyone! As we count down the days until Christmas Iceland’s Eurovision alum Greta Salomé is helping all y’all get into the festive spirit. She has released an outstanding new song called “Ég vil komast heim um jólin”. It’s a cover of Maria Mena’s song, “I Wanna Go Home For Christmas”. Released six days ago, it sounds straight up Toy Story, but in a nice way.

There was a familiar Eurovision face behind the number in producer Þorvaldur Bjarni Þorvaldsson. He has composed three ESC entries: “All Out Of Luck” (came 2nd), “If I Had Your Love” (failed to qualify), and (perhaps somewhat infamously) “Congratulations” sung by Silvia Night (which also failed to qualify). He also produced Greta’s and Jonsi’s entry in 2012.

What do you think, does Greta get you in the festive spirit? Merry Christmas everyone!

Þorvaldur Bjarni Þorvaldsson is one of those songwriters and producers (like Thomas G:son) that knows to whom give his worst work and to whom give his finest compositions and productions. This remarkable and stunning xmas tune is his best work and considering the singer herself he would have to be stupid to give her an “all out of luck” crap-song-esque for Salome to sing, which says a lot about what I think of his older esc contributions.
