In just four days Twin Twin, Destan and Joanna Lagrave will unveil the songs they want to sing at Eurovision. The first two artists will have to wait for the start of Les Chansons d’Abord, the French national final. Joanna won’t. That’s because her song ‘Ma Liberte’ has already been leaked. Bon appetit!

You can also listen to the song by clicking here!

It’s not known whether Joanna or her team will face any kind of punishment or penalty, which is hard to imagine because the show we’ll watch this Sunday was recorded weeks ago. You can’t edit her out. But perhaps France 3 will release the other artists’ songs in advance of the show?

Our friends at the Oikotimes contacted Joanna’s team today, and their response was that she and her team have nothing to do with the leak.

Do you like Joanna and her song? Who shall we blame for the leak? Frenchies: will you be voting for her on Sunday?

“Ma liberté” paroles | “My freedom” lyrics

If I ever meet you
Don’t turn around
And if I ever talk to you
Act like you were not listening
And if I ever embrace you
Tell me that there is no more room between your arms
Whatever the time is, whatever the effort is
I simply want… My freedom
The only thing I’m asking for is my freedom
I need you to give me back my freedom
I leave to you my mad love
To erase the one that I was, on my knees
My freedom
If I ever smile
Don’t look at me
If I ever cry for you
Tell me that it leaves you cold
To love again, to love more
Take me back to… My freedom
The only thing I’m asking for is my freedom
I need you to give me back my freedom
I leave to you my mad love
To erase the one that I was, on my knees
My freedom
My freedom

A bit underwhelming for me, but I do like it overall. Can’t wait to hear it presented 🙂

@R: Try listening to a good song using your “ears” and let your “eyes” have some rest for a while … you’ll be amazed with what you’ll find through the ability of just “listening” … and be moved by what you’re “listening”. Unless you are emotionless and maybe a upbeat song is the only thing you can capture. @Ronnie: You said exactly what I feel. It’s nice to finally see someone feeling music in a similar way to mine.. @Padraig Jude: In other words … this is not your “jam” … and honestly you don’t care what the French will… Read more »

I agree that staging is crucial in any song. I normally like more uptempo songs but this is just beautiful. comparing it to a joke entry and one direction wannabees it is a class act

Yeahhhh no. This will be stuck on the right side of the board if it’s just her on the stage belting.

Staging will be crucial to a ballad like this.

I think this will do well with the juries and French speaking country if the staging is good.
Also if she sings louder live it will do well. And it suffers from vola syndrome as it only really starts to get going at the end. But having said that it’s very good and judging by the other entries and songs from national selections it shouldn’t have much competition.

I really like this song, in my opinion it’s a great ballad unfortunately it needs to be more stronger with backing singer

It’s a pretty song and I can see this winning in France but I don’t see it cracking the Top 10. I’m sure it could have a wonderful presentation but through the whole song I was waiting for something to pop but it never did. I see her winning against Twin Twin and Destan though. I imagine Twin Twin a song circa Sebastian Tellier but that too would stall at Eurovision. Then there’s Destan who could do well if they have a song like Jessy Matador but “Sans Toi” sounds like it should be a ballad. Either way I think… Read more »

It’s nice, but yeah, it has the potential to be more dramatic. I also feel France should try something other than the big-song diva card. I’ll have to hear the rest to see what will happen.

I’m kinda disappointed by this. She has a brilliant voice but the song doesn’t really go anywhere. Judging by how Amandine fared last year (with a better song) I’d say that this will really struggle if the French pick it.

Finally something great from France!! I love her voice, the lyrics and the composition of the song! Here’s a little translation of the lyrics that i did… Ma liberté- My freedom If I ever meet you Don’t turn around And if I ever talk to you Act like you were not listening And if I ever embrace you Tell me that there is no more room between your arms Whatever the time is, whatever the effort is I simply want… My freedom The only thing I’m asking for is my freedom I need you to give me back my freedom… Read more »

I like it, though there’s room for improvement. I wish the chorus was bigger, if you know what I mean, and it’s a tad slow for my tastes. Joanna has a great voice though and I can’t imagine Destan or Twin Twin having a better song. FRANCE VOTE FOR JOANNA.
