We’ve waited and waited and waited, but the time has finally arrived! Denmark’s state broadcaster DR has revealed the three Eurovision hosts and put them on public display at a press conference in Copenhagen. The hosts Lise Rønne, Nikolaj Koppel, and Pilou Asbæk were tweezed and styled and well-rehearsed. They showed us the Danish face of Eurovision 2014—and we likey. Let’s meet them in turn…

Lise Rønne

In recent years host broadcasters in Norway, Germany, and Azerbaijan have had two female hosts and one male host. But this year Lise is going to be working with two men. She’s got the attitude and the charm to make sure the testosterone doesn’t get out of hand.

The 35-year-old became a trainee producer at the age of 22 and is a qualified DR host with lots of experience. She has previously hosted large-scale productions like X Factor, Aftenshowet and, most importantly, Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2011 and 2013!

Here she is giving X Factor fans a backstage tour in 2012. She’s a bubbly one.

Nikolaj Koppel

Nikolaj Koppel, 44, is a Danish pianist who took on the role of music chief at the Tivoli when he decided to take a break from touring. Like Lise, he has hosted programs with DR before, and he is also channel editor at DR P2 and editor at DR P1! Here he is critiquing a contestant on DK Talent in 2010.

Pilou Asbæk

Johan Philip “Pilou” Asbæk, 31, is a Danish actor and has appeared in films and on TV programs such as Comeback (2008), Borgen (2010) and The Borgias (2013). He received a Shooting Stars Award at the Berlin International Film Festival, so we know he can perform. Here he is talking to an Australian interviewer about Danish drama.

Pernille Gaardbo, the executive producer of the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest, seems confident about the trio.

“I am very happy to announce our decision,” she told Eurovision.tv. “It is – in itself – a huge task to be the host of a live TV-show, but the Eurovision Song Contest is the world’s largest music competition, and that puts exceptional demands on the hosts. The hosts need to keep their cool, be professional to the highest degree, and appeal to the whole world. I am confident that Nikolaj, Pilou and Lise will fill this role completely and that Europeans will feel the enthusiasm and warmth that we are trying to make part of the show.”

So what do you think of this years hosts? Let us know in the comments box below!

This is so typical for Danish TV entertainment. Last time Denmark was host for Eurovsion song contest it was not exactly intelligent and tasteful. The problem is that Danes always has to try to be funny. The two stylish and experienced hosts Lise Rønne and Nikolai Koppel is a brilliant choice. But where does the idea to have Pilou Asbæk on stage come from? He could be funny to Danes who knows him, but he will probably be the embarrassing act that pulls down the show.

For me, the time when the hosts talk is when I talk with my friends. I don’t really care who hosts. I didn’t notice the quality of the hosts in Azerbaijan in 2012 – it really didn’t matter, because the audio mixing and the staging were so good.

Nobody’s going to beat Petra Mede’s charm, though. 🙂

I really like it with 3 hosts. Really gives a good balance and lessens the nerves. Looking forward to it 🙂

Don’t overreact, people.. Just wait and see how the show is gonna be in their hands. Hope the danish threesome won’t be sounded like the dull and static Azerbaijanis in 2012. They’re utterly dreadful.

Kasper Juul!!! 😀 I’d rather see him be joined by Birgitte and Katrine, but I suppose we’ll have to settle for the other two. 😛

Oh, can you imagine if they made a guest appearance and brought along a few others – Hanne, Ulrik … a Borgen reunion at Eurovision 😀

Having three hosts gets really chaotic and confusing. I wish that they had went with a lone, charismatic, vibrant host like Sweden had last year.

Last year’s MF was way better than this year in terms of look&feel altogether with hosts. I felt awkward when that young lady which leads the after-show ended her “hello” speech on air and the whole Malmo hall stood silent for endless seconds. 🙂

The hosts for ESC (this threesome…wait, interesting 🙂 ) looks OK. Sexy OK.

Boo! I was hoping for a re-run of the presenters speaking entirely in rhyming couplets! 😉

@willy the first semi final was flat because of yohios flat and boring song and the fact the swedes were dumb enough to vote it through and send helena to andra chansen

They can’t be any worse than this year’s Melodifestivalen hosts.

I really enjoyed having one host last year! Petra Mede was the best. I find the three hosts format a bit boring, cause the public’s attention is being split. However, I don’t judge the 3 people, they might be fantastic. But altogether, I doubt it a bit..

I’m sure they will be good ..
Nothing will ever be as bad as the 2012 Azeri robots with no personalities or the two shouting lunatics from 2005 in Kiev ..

Just for a second there, as I read “Nikolaj”, I thought they got Nikolaj Coster Waldau. It would’ve been awesome!

I don’t know these guys but I wait to see them during the show before I pronounce.

personally i hoped for sidse babett knudsen, tim schou from a friend in london and ulla essendrup

or maybe CHRISTIANE schaumburg-müller

but no, DR chose the most boring hosts ever, this is gonna be worse than 2001

Funny, the Swedes downscale the number of hosts to just one (following Oslo 1996, I guess) and now the Danes decided to go with three hosts format again.

theese hosts SUCKS! i’m from denmark, i’ve been watching danish x factor and lise rønne SHOUTS all the time and is an annoying host…… plus she is ultra-skinny , she looks like she’s anorexic! nikolaj koppel is just boring and not very interesting…..
the only good thing is the fact that there will be 3 hosts.
