Copenhagen might still be ahead of us but Turkish website CADDE reports that Ankara is eyeing up a return to the Contest in 2015.

Turkey withdrew after 2012 in protest at the automatic qualification of the Big 5 and the adoption of the 2009 jury / televote voting system.

CADDE now reports however that after a meeting between EBU President Jean-Paul Philippot and TRT General Director Ibrahim Sahin, Turkey will return to the Contest in 2015.

The news of the return is a change of opinion from TRT, who last year launched Türkvizyon and in September 2013 ruled out participation at this year’s contest in Copenhagen.

Those moves were despite EBU efforts to bring Turkey back for 2014. In May 2013 the EBU changed rules to enable countries who did not broadcast the 2013 Contest to avoid immediate disqualification and return to the Contest in 2014.

Turkey last competed in 2012 with Can Bonomo and despite failing to qualify in 2011 scored back-to-back Top 5 positions in 2009 (4th Place) and 2010 (2nd Place) with Hadise and maNga.

So what do y’all think? Are you ready to feel the rhythm in Turkey’s heart again or do you would you not love them if they were back?

Comments below! And thank you to our friend Burak for the tip!

Interesting…When I considered the diaspora discussion between Turkey and Azerbaijan, I saw that Turkey has voted for other countries mostly in its Eurovision history:

Top 5 Countries which Turkey voted for:

1. Bosnia – 129
2. United Kingdom – 126
3. Ireland – 119
4. Spain – 118
5. Germany – 86

At 2010 Manga’s song was really good, Sertap’s winner song at 2003 was good and the best was possibly “Dinle” at 2007 (I think Dinle deserved to be the winner that year but it was the 3rd).

Then there were really “below the average” songs from Turkey which did not deserve any title.

Turkey’s objection is to the ridiculous new system of Eurovision which allows some pre-defined countries to jump to the finals directly, without entering the qualifications. And this is a normal reacion, I think.

takker mange gange kære Danishgirl men jeg vil tror vi vil ikke på europæisk mgp i år igen. I dont think so that this new is true, our government already against to this competition, everyone knows TRT is a part of them also. TRT Management can not take a decision without government rules

Eurovision 2015 participating artists who want to represent our country get. Country national final to get done. Folk artist has set. Not with the artist you want. This work leaves the ring number of the TRT. Turkey may decide the winner. Should attend and must show itself. Greetings from Turkey.

Successful excuse to return to a country’s big five? To produce a fool’s excuse your country. People’s decisions should be taken into consideration. Each head up out of a sound. This is a singing competition. Please do not become a matter of the world.

Turkey has shown that the response did not show other countries. An uncomfortable situation if you would put everyone attitude. Hopefully the right searches for the Turkish people. Turkey is a country successful. We want to see Turkey in Eurovision. Greetings from Denmark.

We must return to the Eurovision. TRT should take their own decisions. They do not care what the people say. This is very painful. Waiting for participation in 2015. I care about what the people are saying and apply it. Come on Turkey in 2015.

Türkiye will not come back Eurovision. She does not participate in Eurovision because of injustice the scoring system. If EBU can change its voting system to a more fair voting system. After that Türkiye may take place in Eurovision Song Contenst again. Right now TRT will only join Türk Vizyon in Tataristan, 8 months later. http://www.turkvizyon.info

Really hope Turkey come back.

First contest I watched was 2003, and I loved Sertab and loved pretty much every turkish entry apart from the dull one in 2008. Love the turkish ethno music.

I would LOVE it when Turkey comes back. I allways love the Turkish entries and 2004&5 & 2008-2010 were really fantastic. 2011 and 2012 were also good, final-worthy after all. That I have lived in Turkey has nothing to do with these opinions. So, it would be fantastic.

Turkey, along with its allbuying fake Azerbaijan can show their talents on that Turkvizyon thing. ESC will lose nothing, really, don’t know why the EBU even try to negotiate with these arrogant €&@$%^#

God, the Turkey strikes again oh my god. I mean I love them, but they can come back if they could bring some good acts. Their entry in 2008 was very amazing, sadly they sent it in the period of that “dark ages of Eurovision” so quality didn’t speak at all and they only manage to 7th place.

Never really liked any of Turkey’s songs and their one winner was undeserved in my opinion. But I’d like as many countries as possible to compete so no matter how screwed up Turkey is I’d definitely like them back.

@fikri solid entries? 2006 – total crap. Scored 11 in the final 2007 – cheesy lyrics, good show nonetheless finished 4th – totally overrated 2008 – probably their best entry! well deserved 2009 – Hadise cannot sing for shit yet managed to finish fourth ahead of solid entries like Estonia and France 2010 – Great song, horrible vocal performance, yet managed to finish 2nd 2011- total nutcase! 2012 – Can forgot his lyrics, and if that song came from Malta or San Marino or another “non diaspora oriented country”, it wouldn’t even qualify to the final let alone finish 7th.… Read more »

They did give Sirusho 10 points. And Israel participates even on the harshest of situations; they shouldn’t complain at all.

But will, was 7th place necessary? Let alone finish higher than Kaliopi, Nina and Pastora?

Can Bonomo had a cool song, too, with some interesting subtleties. If they bring back Mor ve Otesi that’d be great – those guys kicked some ass. Manga and Hadise were cool too. Just don’t bring back the guys from 2011, man.

At last Turkey has finally stopped complaining about Top 10 finishings, but another reason to be glad about this even if you don’t like Turkey’s entries is that their presence means fewer easy votes for Azerbaijan. 🙂 (Remember what happened in 2011 when Turkey missed the final?)

i’m from Turkey… I don’t really think this will really happen. TRT “hates” Eurovision and they will never back. I hope this is true but i don’t really think so…

Will Turkey return even if Aram MP3 takes the crown home for Armenia? I think Turkey is one of the most overrated countries in ESC.

I have a feeling that this Dhani guy is Greek instead of Danish, you can notice his obsession with Helena Paparizou in almost every comment, lol.

BTW loved Hadise back in 2009, if Turkey decides to return then welcome back!

@Dhani: You’re Danish?????????????? Jesus lord … Turkey coming back in 2015: what I hope? That they learn how to loose first and foremost, avoiding to blame everything and everybody for their loss. Then … step up their game musicallywise … They can’t keep relying on Turkish ethnic Shakira-esque acts … not on songs that are so average or bad that the only thing that seems to distract listeners and viewers from its poor quality its the stage performance. Why people keep saying Can Bonomo was good is beyond me. The staging? The choreography? The creative boat? You know you can… Read more »
