Discuss: Mei Finegold deserves Top 5 finish with Same Heart

Mei Finegold, the rock diva from Israel, will sing ‘Same heart’ at Eurovision 2014. The announcement came this evening following a week of SMS voting as part of Israel’s Kdam 2014. The video is simply amazing. The choreography, the music, the lyrics—it all shows a woman who has found independence amid all the anger. The transition from 0:55 to the Beyonce-esque dance moves at 1:00 is among the best things we have ever seen. Love.

The results have proven our readers right! Mei’s winning song won our Kdam 2014 poll in a landslide, earning 70% of all votes. “Be Proud”, which finished second with our readers, only earned 19%.

This year saw the removal of a jury from the decision process, meaning that the song was selected 100% by the public. Democracy at its finest!

Same heart lyrics / Translation

You filled me up
With poisoned love
You filled my soul
With sins
But I have learned to grow
Now,
Too many lies
Too many crimes
They’re as long as themfinity
I’m starting to rise,
Don’t need to criticize
I’m not an animal in captivity
I’m skinning you out
No longer apart
We don’t beat from the same heart

I’m skinning you out
No longer apart
We don’t beat from the same heart
We don’t beat from the same heart

You are silent
I want silence from words
Time to wake without impunity,
Reselect
And the sun is revealed

Time to open my eyes
Stretch out my hands
Freedom calling me
Time to go from you
You’re no longer
You will not hear me cry
Its time to go and pick
Sky and light
There is no place for the dark

And it’s time for me to clean up your mess
I will take it without any regrets
And it’s time for me to open my eyes
And to recognize
We don’t beat from the same heart

I’m skinning you out
No longer a part
We don’t beat from the same heart

I’m skinning you out
No longer a part
We don’t beat from the same heart

I’m skinning you out
No longer a part
We don’t beat from the same heart

I’m skinning you out
No longer a part
We don’t beat from the same heart
We don’t beat from the same heart
We don’t beat from the same heart
We don’t beat from the same heart
