WATCH: Aram MP3 gets serious with his electro ballad Not Alone

Aram Mp3, Armenia’s Eurovision 2014 singer, has released the official video for his entry “Not Alone”. This electro ballad, which features glorious instrumentals, represents a major departure for this comedian-turned-pop-star, who is best known for his dance tracks. Aram’s solid vocals mix with a seriousness of purpose, and we think he’s on to a winner.

His ballad is a hymn devoted to perseverance. It encourages victims of domestic abuse and torrid relationships to remember that they’re not alone, and that they can remove themselves from all the turmoil.

The song begins solemnly, but builds continuously. Moving into the second minute, it crescendos into an extended period of rage as horns blare over the synthesized backing. It’s measured and perfectly timed.

Thematically he suggests that passion can lead to one’s unraveling. It can blind us from the horrors and faults of those we think we love. Seeing the truth can hurt, but it’s essential to have that reckoning: “You’re gonna wake up/ It’s only a dream/ And why do dreams make people scream?””

You can read the Not Alone lyrics below. What do you think of the song?

“Not Alone” lyrics

You’re all alone, you’re all alone,
No shoulder wants you to lean on,
You thought this world was too cold
And you’ve made up
A whole new world

Don’t cry, don’t cry little bird
Though you are scared and you’re hurt
You’re gonna wake up
It’s only a dream
And why do dreams make people scream

You’re not alone…

What if it’s all in one kiss
That turns all seeds into trees
The strongest wind into breeze
Enter all doors without keys

What if it’s all in one kiss
That turns all seeds into trees
The strongest wind into breeze
What if it’s all in one kiss

You’re not alone…
