The BBC will be adding a touch of Irish sparkle to their Eurovision broadcast in Copenhagen this year. According to The Herald, Laura Whitmore has confirmed on RTE Radio 1 that she will be commentating during next month’s semi-finals with Scott Mills.

“Then I am going to be in Copenhagen and I am doing some bits for BBC Three for the Eurovision so that will be pretty cool.”

Laura Whitmore will be Scott Mills’ third co-commentator, having previously worked with Sara Cox in 2011 and 2012 and Scissor Sisters’ Ana Matronic last year. Graham Norton will commentate on the final as usual.

Apparently, Laura has been drafted in to replace Ana, as she will be away to tour with the band in May. So unfortunately, she won’t be at this year’s contest.

Given that she spends most of her time presenting for MTV, Laura will no doubt take to Eurovision like a duck to water. Her Irish representatives, Can-linn featuring Kasey Smith, will be performing ninth in the second semi-final with their entry “Heartbeat”.

Well Ana Matronic really did a great job last year. I remember the funny part when she commentated Dina Garipova on semi final 1 last year by saying “You know, she could’ve been related to the Kardashians, but not direct relatives because she (Dina Garipova) is very talented..” hahaha. Well I hope Laura Whitmore will say some interesting thoughts too in Copenhagen..
