Slovenia’s Tinkara Kovach has released her official video for “Spet/Round and Round”—and it’s a real masterpiece.

Set on a snowy mountain, the glossy video features two lovers spinning round and round. Their passion is obvious, but the dizzying nature of their encounter suggests that not all is well. Their circular motions reflect the viscious cycle of love of hate and the ups and downs of what is very clearly a torrid romance.

In this re-mastered and final version, Tinkara breathes soul and mystery into every single note. Her flute adds to the atmosphere. The lyrics trip off the tongue and carry more weight than most of the numbers we’re going to hear this year.

“I’m going to show you how to breath/ I’m going to show you how to live/ I’m going to hold your heart in hand/ I’m going to make you understand.”

You have. We understand that we love this song. Congratulations, Tinkara!

When people call the instrument in Emmelies song a flute it annoys me so much. IT’S A TIN WHISTLE. It sounds completely different to a flute, it’s held in a completely different position to a flute while playing, and it looks absolutely nothing like a flute.

It’s far easier to play a tin whistle than a flute, and comparing Denmark last year and Slovenia this year is stupid, and an insult to Tinkara.

I just wonder if Tinkara herself disguised behind one of the nickname here. Pushing so hard for the Slovenia song and her flute playing LOL

This song is kind of forgettable to me. She’s not a bad singer, but the composition lacks something.

I don’t know if Slovenia will make it, even with the really good draw. They haven’t exactly gotten much support in the last couple of years.

@Anni & Danu, Tinkara has already mentioned that she’s a professional flute player.

@Pat, I wish! But it’s all down to Slovenian composer Raay and a certain Hannah Mancini.

@ESCFan,
Tinkara’s a professional flautist. As she mentioned on Slovenian TV not so long ago, she’s been playing the flute way before Emmelie de Forest was even born!

Remember people that she will perform between two powerful songs from Greece and Romania. It’s really uncomfortable position and I have doubts if she can do it. I really like this song but Tinkara has VERY DIFFICULT thing to do. But good luck, maybe everything go sekk.

sLOVEnia … I would be so happy if this song actually steals the win from some of the boring and predictable winners (rumored to be this year) 🙂

It was my no. 8 before the new version, and it’s my number 7 now. I always liked it, and the new version improves on it. I’m still not sure if she’ll qualify, despite how badly I want her to.

Beautiful! This has been one of my favourites ever since it came out. Loved it on the Slovenian final, loved it ever since and still dear to me.
Here’s to a country/representative that does not use weird PR stunts, has no idiotic nationals insulting everybody else, uses no politics to soil the festival, and on top regales us with a delicate and subtly crafted song full of tasteful artistry. Should definitely make it through to the final and fight for a well-deserved high placing.
Best to Tinkara/Slovenia from the “Rest of the World” 😉

One of the best this year! She really deserves to qualify in my book. 9.3/10 and 6th place for Slovenia by me!

Having listened to the original version countless times, the final third of the new version certainly has a bit more oomph to it.

I’d love to see her qualify. This is one of Slovenias best songs in recent years and the new version makes it even better!

“The lyrics trip off the tongue and carry more weight than most of the numbers we’re going to hear this year.”
Does that mean you’ll be posting them? 😉

I like the reveal that follows a closeup of black shoes and suit leg walking over the red dress train. I haven’t looked up a translation yet, but the video hints at a deeper interpretation.
