Between 2007 to 2013, every Nordic country won Eurovision except for Iceland. This region is packed with some of the world’s best producers, fiercest songwriters and most camera-ready singers. As Lordi, Alexander Rybak, Loreen and Emmelie de Forest have shown, there’s a lot of good music up north.

This year the bookies have already suggested that Sweden’s Sanna Nielsen, Norway’s Carl Espen, and Denmark’s Basim are going to challenge for the title. And Finland’s Softengine have done well with the Wiwi Jury. As for Iceland….well, we appreciate their message of tolerance.

But who do you want to see finish on top of the iceberg? You can lisen to each of this year’s Nordic entries below. Then vote in our poll. This poll closes on May 9, the day after the second semi-final. You can vote for as many contestants as you’d like, but you can only vote ONE time, so make it count.

Denmark: Basim with “Cliché Love Song”

Iceland: Pollapönk with “No prejudice”

Finland: Softengine with “Something Better”

Norway: Carl Espen with “Silent Storm”

Sweden: Sanna Nielsen with “Undo”

Of course I think Norway is the best this year *hehe very biased* but aside from that it’s definitely FINLAND!!!!

Something better – something different! Softengine from Finland is one of the best songs this year. The boys are not pretending anything, just performing a damn good song. And they are so young too (heard something like 19?). Sweden is overrated is always, Denmark and Iceland just aren’t good but Norway is nice

I love Finland and Norway.

Sweden is overrated like every year, nothing special in her or her song.
Danish is good but I think Bruno Mars did this years ago.
Iceland is something new and I rather like it. We’ll see:)

I love the Danish and Finnish entries this year (I’m Irish by birth, but Danish by choice. I love Denmark. 🙂 ) . I’m cool with the Swedish, Icelandic and Norwegian entries as well. I think, if this was based on the bloc voting, Ireland would be included in this. I wonder will they stir up another big racket here as well.

I like Sweden and Norway as the best Nordic songs this yeah, followed by Finland. But I think Sweden’s performer is too dramatic and the whole staging seems a bit fake, but maybe this will be rectified in Copenhagen, I hope so, because it is in my top 10

Sweden-One of my favs, def the best Nordic one this year 🙂 Maybe we are going back to Sweden next year? 🙂
Norway-Sorry,but I don’t like it.It’s just too monotonous for me,it just doesn’t touch me(probably because I like Balkan ballads more haha)
Finland-It’s not bad but it’s not that good
Denmark-This one is funny, catchy, isn’t worth of the hate that it recieves
Iceland-Joke….

Why this idolatry of the Nordics? They have brought some of the very best, but also many many song of the very worst (Lordi on top of the list), especially in the eighties and ninties and gave the ESC in many countries the bad name it has today. And lets not mention their hairdoes in the ninties, especially for men… Having said that, Norway is my favorite for this year and I agree that Sweden is too generic. For the rest I don’t care much.

The guys from Finland have one of the best songs in 2014. (In my opinion, together with UK). Ok, maybe they need to improve their performance. But they’re great.
Carl’s song is awesome, as Sanna’s one.
I’m not a fan of Basim and Pollaponk, but I like the message of No Prejudice haha (:

my top 5 of Nordic entries is:
1 – Finland
2 – Norway
3 – Sweden
4 – Iceland
5 – Denmark

2. Iceland (Go Iceland go!)
3. Norway (He’s like a Norwegian Kenny Loggins!)
4. Sweden (Sorry. Helena Paparizou is better!)

I agree with Easpag. Norway’s song is great, but I don’t think he is the right performer. Iceland will come across as messy and though Finland is growing on me, it won’t do that in time to get votes. None of the above are qualifying. Denmark irritates me because he’s trying to be Bruno Mars. It’s not the X-Factor, Basim. Which leaves Sweden as the best by far. Top six.

You gotta give this to the scandinavians: they are the only ones who know what they do year after year, and the only ones who can face the eastern bloc.

5.Norway- 36th overall

It’s been a pretty poor year for Scandinavia, in my opinion. It could’ve been saved if Norway picked Linnea Dale, but they picked a good song with a horrible singer. Sweden is the only decent song of the bunch.
