It was a night of huge success for our Italian Eurovision cantanti Emma Marrone and Marco Mengoni, as both singers picked up awards and performed at the Italian Music Awards 2014.

The annual awards, which are broadcast live on RAI, recognise Italian artists who have sold gold, platinum or multi-platinum albums or singles in the last twelve months. It’s one of the biggest nights in the Italian music scene. Other big names, such as Giorgia and Laura Pausini, walked away with gongs too.

The band Modà also picked up an award before joining Emma on stage to perform their 2011 collaboration, “Arriverà“. As you’ll recall, that number took second at the famous San Remo festival the same year. Emma then threw down a great performance of her Eurovision song, “La mia città“. The song may not have done well at the contest, but that doesn’t seem to have dented Emma’s popularity with her fans!

Later on the ever-so-dreamy Marco Mengoni pick up his award and performed his single La valle dei re. It’s been a great twelve months for Marco, and now he has another shiny piece of metal to go in the cabinet alongside the MTV Best Italian Act award that he picked up in November.

With both performers as popular as ever, it’s clear that participating in Eurovision doesn’t have a stigma with the Italian public or music industry – now if only that could get through to everyone!
