We may still be suffering withdrawal symptoms due to Bosnia & Herzegovina’s prolonged absence from Eurovision, but their 2010 representative, Vukasin Brajic, is helping to lift our spirits with his formidable new single – “Na Usnama”.

The track, which literally translates as “On Your Lips”, is a pop-rock number replete with electric guitar chord changes and an extremely memorable hook. Although we are used to hearing the Serbian language in folk and ballad form at the contest, it is refreshing to hear it used in a rock song. After Eurovision 2010, the “Thunder and Lightning” singer worked hard at his craft. He participated in countless festivals and last year undertook a 200 date tour. And the grafting has paid off. Vocally, “Na Usnama” is beautifully delivered.

It’s a love story fraught with emotion. During a recent chat, Vukasin Brajoc explained that the song was written by his bass player Damir Mojsin, after his girlfriend left him. Although, he was in pain, the situation lent itself to the creative process, and working on the track with the other band members helped to mitigate Mojsin’s sorrow. The songwriting and production took seven months – they don’t rush things in Bosnia.

The simple video is shot in both black and white, and colour – a visual metaphor to depict the past and present. The images are charged with sexual chemistry, but played out in a tasteful way.

This is my current headbopping number and is on a constant loop. If your hair isn’t long already, you’d almost want to grow it specially, just for the optimum jamming experience.

“On Your Lips” Lyrics – English Translation

I wish you were ice
So you could melt in my palm
And as a few drops of water
In my hand you would be
I’d wash my face with you
So I could be with you
One last time
You would touch me.

If I could be a tear
Born in your eye
To to slip down your cheeks

Right to your lips
I would touch them
I’d stay right there on them
I would die on your lips.

If I was made of stone
I’d never feel pain
Not a bit of sadness
Not a bit of rage

Nothing left in me
I wouldn’t feel time
Running over me
