Estonia: Tanja werks maxi dress in new video for Forevermore

Tanja Mihhailova, the Estonian of Russian descent who represented Estonia at Eurovision 2014, has released a music video for her most recent single, “Forevermore”.

In the video, Tanja shows off her collection of billowing maxi dresses whist walking along cobbled streets and alleyways. A gentleman friend follows Tanja around, but she has places to be. During the chase, he finds some time to use a mobile telephone and smoke a cigarette. …but Tanja walks on and casually gives him face. When the heat gets out of hand, Tanja ends up on swimming on the beach — in another maxi dress! Go with what ya know, y’all! The visual highlights are Tanja cooling off in the water with an amazing necklace, and dancing on the streets…for no apparent reason.

Beautiful as Tanja and the video are, so much seems out of place here. The saxophone doesn’t work with this electronic track. (Alexandra Stan gets away with it on Mr Saxobeat, but this ain’t Mr Saxobeat). The rhythm is catchy and the chorus is pleasant enough. But the song starts to drag halfway through, suggesting editing would have been a good idea. Also, the visuals bare little relation to the lyrics of the song. That said, the hair and makeup from Estonian beauty guru Kaia Triisa is FLAWLESS, and Tanja looks like a pop goddess. I just wish the song was as awe-inspiring as she is.
