Turkey: Sertab Erener makes a lot of promises in Soz

Sertab Erener, the winner of Eurovision 2003, has released a new single called “Soz” (Promise). The third video release of her latest album “Sade” (Simple), it features a nice ethno-Turkish sound and explores themes of love and romantic obsession.

As you can see in this translation of the chorus, Miss Erener is making a lot of promises to the one she loves:

I will never broach those subjects

I promise, I promise

Apparently love needs fuel, as Sertab makes these promises in just two locations in the video: a gas station and a car. Sertab pumps gas alone—and looks amazing in a red dress. But she shares her promises with a group of friends in the car as they drive, dance and sing. Let’s hope they kept their eyes on the road. As Sertab knows, love requires commitment…
