Good evening, Amsterdam! On Saturday more than twenty Eurovision 2015 stars gathered in the Dutch capital for Eurovision In Concert, the biggest pre-Eurovision event and the first dress rehearsal for Vienna. Some of this year’s biggest names participated, including Måns Zelmerlöw and Guy Sebastian. And so did some stars of yesterday including 1985 Eurovision winners Bobbysocks! and two-time Dutch representative Edsilia Rombley, who sang for the Netherlands at Eurovision 1998 in Birmingham and Eurovision 2007 in Helsinki. She co-hosted the show alongside the former Dutch Eurovision commentator Cornald Maas. As ever there were some amazing (and a few underwhelming) performances. Below you can listen to 10 of them. You can visit our YouTube channel to watch all of the live performances and to watch our interviews.

Live performance: Eduard Romanyuta – “I Want Your Love” (Moldova)

Eduard Romanyuta, the Ukrainian singing for Moldova, was one of the biggest surprises of the evening. He kept the bulk of his choreography from Chisinau, but delivered it with even more energy and pizzaz, proving that he is a worthy Moldovan representative. His vocals were on point despite all the dancing and he seemed way more confident. Here’s what you get after a good set of rehearsals!

Live performance: Ann Sophie – “Black Smoke” (Germany)

Did someone say confidence? The German representative may have been wearing black, but she certainly shined in Amsterdam. Even without her backing vocalists Ann Sophie worked the stage with her brilliant vocals and a much sassier performance than her previous display in Germany. Look at her drop to the floor: We love that booty tooch!

Live performance: Knez – “Adio” (Montenegro)

Knez’s first live performance of “Adio” really exceeded our expectations. The Montenegrin representative is a seasoned performer and he worked it head to toe. We’re serious. He had facial expressions and fancy footwork. Knez was really feeling the song and he got the public clapping along to his “Adio”. Those who dubbed this a forgottable act — including some of our own reviewers — have had a change of heart. Knez proved that “Adio” deserves a big “hello”!

Live performance: Trijntje Oosterhuis – “Walk Along” (The Netherlands)

Even the most bitter Eurofan got his or her happy back after hearing this one. Trijntje Oosterhuis made the most of her home-field advantage, delivering this year’s perfect sing-a-long song. From the long guitar opening to Trijntje’s clapping , “Walk Along” created a feel good atmosphere in the Melkweg — and through the screen of the computer. (That said, one of our bloggers wasn’t feeling her pants. As he said after the show, “Why? Why-ai-ai-ai wear those trousers?!”)

Live performance: Guy Sebastian – “Tonight Again” (Australia)

The Aussies are coming! Guy Sebastian, Australia’s first entrant ever, rocked the stage in Amsterdam with a very lively performance of “Tonight Again”. Guy seemed enthusiastic and the audience really responded. Everyone sang along to Guy’s ooh-ooh-ah-oohs! All we have to say is Saturday night so good!

Live performance: Morland and Debrah Scarlett – “A Monster Like Me” (Norway)

Honey, we’re telling the truth, the Norwegians slayed in Amsterdam! Morland and Debrah pulled out an outstanding performance of “A Monster Like Me”. They are not reliant on the orchestra and the food fight from Melodi Grand Prix. Even with Morland joking during the piano bridge they still maintained their power. That’s what you call class!

Live performance: Maria-Elena Kyriakou – “One Last Breath” (Greece)

Eurovision In Concert was full of powerful ladies nailing their songs. Greece’s Maria-Elena Kyriakou is a good example. She performed her modern Greek tragedy “One Last Breath” flawlessly, showcasing her stunning vocals and expression. And her stunning appearance. Is there anything not stunning about Maria-Elena?

Live performance: Elhaida Dani – “I’m Alive” (Albania)

Albania’s Elhaida Dani did a great job as usual. We all know she’s got the voice and that she knows how to infuse every note of “I’m Alive” with passion and vigor. The Albanian representative has really made a change for the better with her song, and each performance is further proof of that. Elhaida is so, so alive, y’all!

Live performance: Aminata – “Love Injected” (Latvia)

Talking about nailing one performance after the other! Latvia’s Aminata has managed to keep her performance haunting even without the camera effects and the shadow effects from Supernova. We’re loving it so much! Has Aminata love injected you as well?

Live performance: Lisa Angell – “N’0ubliez pas” (France)

The French songstress silenced the rather chatty audience with her amazing performance of “N’oubliez pas”. Some fans may have questioned Lisa’s selection early on, but her skillfull and emotional performances prove she’s one to watch. And we could stare (and listen) all night. Merci, merci, merci!

One word for Greece: wow!!!

Greece would be the hot favourite this year in normal times, that is without the close to bankruptcy condition it has. France, Italy, Albania are the other good songs. With a big minus for Italy for winning junior eurovision and then refusing to host it.

If we have to be objective, Italy have the best song, Sweden, and best performer and highly likely the best production, and Greece the best voice. So the TOP -3 in no particular order, is Italy, Sweden, and Greece. Regards from the UK

~ {The Million Dollar Boy} Eduard of Moldova.. Even with a great performance he really can’t save it…His song doesn’t help him…Non qualifier 4 me…At least he should had rigged the juries/televoting in NF of Moldova with having a good enough song to compete with in Vienna.. P.S. : At least he should really cut his hair very short so that he will improve his appearance to much better…His face is really good looking but he looks eww with this long hair.. ~ Ann Sophie of Germany I expect a strong performance from her…She really is great performer….Germany will most… Read more »

Great article! You chose the right ones. Serbia and Poland are shitty entries so no need to comment something about them. They were awful. As always.

Why so positive? I know for a fact Elhaida wasn’t able to hit those high notes ( or didn’t want to ). It was a sub-par performance for an amazing song ala Armenia 2014
