The race to win Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2015 is in full swing, and today the axe fell on 86 of the 134 entries. That’s because Malta’s Public Broadcasting Service has revealed its shortlist of the fabulous 48 who still have a chance at making the semi-finals, which take place on November 21. The lucky 20 acts will be revealed on the Xarabank TV program on October 3.
The shortlist is stacked with Eurovision and Malta Eurovision Song Contest alums. The Eurovision stars include Gianluca (2013), Glen Vella (2011), Miriam Christine (1996), and Olivia Lewis (2007), while the national selection stars include Lawrence Gray (1998, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2011), Trilogy (2005, 2006, 2007, 2009), Amber (2011, 2012, 2014, 2014), Domenique (2011, 2013) & Danica Muscat (2012, 2013), and Franklin Calleja (2013, 2014). That’s a whole lot of experience.
Ira Losco to return to Malta Eurovision Song Contest?
Ira Losco fans will be devastated to see that she isn’t on the list. But we have a feeling that producers are just teasing us. Just yesterday Ira asked her Facebook fans whether she should participate. Song submissions were due well before she asked that. Why would you ask—as if you were still making up your mind—if the deadline had already passed. Hmmmm. Sounds like she’ll be receiving some sort of wildcard, or be added to one of the existing songs as a duet (maybe with Gianluca?) Then again, maybe we are letting our hopes get in the way of the reality…

Happy to see the name of Amber reappear.
Why should Ira be treated differently?
Personally I think, she got to know she was off the list and tries to get again on by means of public pressure. If she would be allowed allegations and insinuations on Malta being one of the bribeable and corrupt countries in eurovision will rise again.
ira did not make it….if she is given a wildcard it is quite unfair!!let us be fair once!!! she is just a normal artist..let us hear the songs first…an interesting entry the nuns!!and leave ira alone in peace!
Maybe not Malta, but somewhere else? 🙂
I want see Gianluca Bezzina back!
Great Gianluca!
Wait, there are 5 Domeniques?
the same people every year. bored!
Jessika and Christabelle competed in 2014 as well. Also, I feel as if I’m the only person who liked “Lovetricity”, and I do hope Christabelle will win the Maltese ticket based on only the singers. When I hear the songs this may change.
