You’re reading it right: the EBU will make it possible for non-Europeans to vote for their favourite act at Junior Eurovision 2014!

According to the EBU, Junior Eurovision viewers from around the globe can now vote for their favourite act on the night for a special “Online Award“. The prize will be given to the winner during the press conference after the live show on November 15. It’s amazing news for non-Europeans and for people in countries which aren’t participating!

All of you in the UK, US, Canada, Romania, Portugal, China and beyond will vote during the interval acts, just as viewers in the participating countries will. There will be a special screen displayed on the live stream on the official site of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. You can only vote ONCE. The online voting will not influence the televoting or the show, it’s only an extra prize!

The new trophy continues a trend at JESC. Beginning in 2013, Junior Eurovision began awarding second and third-place prizes.

Do you like the new prize and do you hope this system will be used at the Eurovision Song Contest next year in Vienna?

They should do this next year in Vienna. Just changing it a little bit: Awarding 1 to 12 points from the “rest of the World”!
