Just as Malta is busy turning into the perfect Junior Eurovision Island, whilst battling a very very fierce cyclone, broadcaster PBS have revealed a new detail about the National Final happening in a couple of weeks!

Gordon Bonello, one of the producers of the show, revealed on talk show Xarabank that Conchita Wurst will be the opening act of this year’s Malta Eurovision Song Contest which takes place a week after the Junior Eurovision Song Contest at the same venue.

During the same programme, clips of all the semi finalists of the Malta Eurovision were shown, together with short interviews with all the participants.

One of the interviews was with Malta’s JESC representative Federica Falzon and the Junior Eurovision team for Malta. After this interview, Federica gave a truly mind-blowing LIVE performance of “Diamonds“, which was something truly magical!

The Junior Eurovision excitement kicks off tomorrow in Malta as all the delegations start arriving. After that, the opening ceremony will take place on Sunday, at Verdala Palace and it will also include the draw of the running order. This will be broadcast live on junioreurovision.tv and tvm.com.mt.

After that, a full week of intense rehearsals and other activities will follow. But more on that next week, as a nice chunk of Team Wiwi will be landing in Malta tomorrow and on Sunday. Stay tuned to wiwibloggs for all the latest from the (hopefully) sunny Malta!

Sorry! I misread the article and thought Conchita was invited to be the opening act on JESC…but I stand by everything else I wrote there regardless!

If Emmelie De Forest was the guest star in the Kiev 2013 edition, then it’s only natural that Conchita will grace the Malta 2014 JESC with her presence. If you’re worried that impressionable children or young adolescents may get confused by what they see and might want to emulate her looks and dress style, you don’t deal with it by sweeping Conchita under the rug or denying your kids the right to watch the show! Kids are much more accepting and open to expressions of individuality these days and it’s our responsibility as adults not to project our fears, biases,… Read more »
