The pages of wiwibloggs have had a distinctly Mediterranean flavour for the last few days, and with good reason. The Maltese kick off the selection process for their 2015 Eurovision act TONIGHT! We’ve got all the links below, but first we need to determine the contenders.

For the last month or so, we’ve been asking y’all to vote for your favourites in our poll. After counting 4,342 votes, we can now reveal the singers you want to represent the island in Vienna. Four acts have emerged as potential winners, but there’s one lady way out in front. Topping the poll in a landslide of 777 votes, Amber and “Warrior” is clearly the people’s choice. Channelling the Scandi-Greek heroine Helena Paparizou in both looks and sound, MESC seems to be her battle to lose.

Amber “Warrior”

Hot on her heels is last year’s fan favourite, Jessika. The dance-pop diva’s 2014 aspirations were killed by the juries. But that hasn’t dented your love for her latest offer, “Fandango”. After languishing in fourth for several weeks, the track has surged into second place with 494 votes. Could a final push help Jessika on her way to Vienna?

Jessika “Fandango”

A returnee also occupies third place. Christabelle has been a favourite since the beginning. With 465 votes, will she have enough momentum to “Rush” past the competition? Hopefully she won’t be hindered by those killer boots.

Christabelle “Rush”

Rounding off our quartet of divas is Sisters (Ekklesia). The nuns are on the charm offensive, and the cute factor is clearly paying off – 406 of you voted for “Love And Let Go”. Can they rely on a little divine intervention? Or would God rather chat with his BFF Silvia Night?

You can see the complete results below. Only the Top 14 contestants will advance to the final on Saturday. The contestants in italics below are predicted to be eliminated (by our readers, anyway). Lyndsay and Deborah are joint 14th so we’ve placed them both in the danger zone.

Amber and Chris Grech are my favourites, in my opinion both have good songs, and with the proper work they could be turned into strong entries. Maybe Rush too, and I like that song as well, it would be a nice change for Malta, sending a more upbeat entry, but so far is in a far third place for me. About the sisters, I don’t see what’s so great about them, their song is underwhelming, with a very positive message, yes, but being objective, the song itself is not that great, if they win, they’ll become another Buranovskiye Babushki, winning… Read more »

When re-listening… I now don’t see what’s so special about ‘Fandango’. She (Jessika) has really breathy vocals, which somehow I didn’t realise before! She also can’t pronounce the title word which is rather disturbing – ‘FanTANGO’. I feel the jury may crush this again, sadly.

Question: Will the nuns be able to wear their habits and what not? When it comes down to the ESC/EBU rules?

People who vote for The Sister (coughcough – ‘The Nonkers’) are obviously doing it for the gimmick, there is no way that anyone could say they are the best singers or have the best song with a straight face. Christabelle would be the ideal winner for me, with a bit of cleaning up that would go down a treat in the arena – a real upbeat party track! I do like Amber’s song now too, although at the start I didn’t really like it. I still don’t get how it’s like Survivor either – which is so much better in… Read more »

Here are my top 10 once again:

1. L-Ahwa 9.46
2. Franklin 9.46
3. Chris Grech 9.42
4. Raquel 9.38
5. Danica Muscat 9.36
6. Glen Vella 9.30
7. Jessika 9.30
8. Ekklesia Sisters 9.26
9. Lawrence Gray 9.22
10. Trilogy 9.20

Amber is next-to-last in my evaluation. If she goes to Vienna, I think she will suffer the same fate as Tanja (Estonia) and Mei Finegold (Israel).

Oh, and I forgot about Chris Grech. Either L-Ahwa, Jessika, or Chris Grech would be a great choice to me.

I’ve warmed to Amber’s song. I still prefer L-Ahwa and Jessika, though, and L-Ahwa’s my favorite. Not as big of a fan of Ekklesia Sisters or Christabelle.
