It’s bad news… or depending on your outlook, good. The rumoured grand coalition of San Marino and Luxembourg is not to be. It has been confirmed today that the Italian speaking mircostate will be ridin’ solo in Vienna.

Of course the talk of a coalition emanated from the fallout surrounding a Luxembourgish minister’s nod in agreement to Linda Martin’s request for a Grand Duchy return to Eurovision. That nod turned out to be a “misunderstanding”, but hopes of a Lux comeback remained as local singer Thierry Mersch claimed he was in negotiations with the San Marinese.

However, the Luxemburger Wort reports that he was unable to raise enough funding, forcing his plans to be scrapped.

While we’re sad that the once mighty Benelux nation will not be represented in Vienna, we’re kind of glad to be rid of the potential logistical headaches. And the shipping dilemma is gone to – San Luxembourg, Luxem Marino? Realistically it would have been a mess.

Thierry Mersch fans needn’t worry though. He’s planning to take his chances in the German selection, so we may still see him in Germany. We’re sure y’all are thrilled.

Meanwhile, San Marino are due to make an announcement regarding their 2015 representative in the coming weeks.

I don’t understand how could Luxembourg be out of money? Well they are like the richest country in Europe or what. But it would be cool to have such a good eurovision nation back on 60th anniversary, but ORF has alredy disappointed me with logo which is awful. I really hope that contest is going to be better than crap from Malmo 2013. San Marino is probably going to be represented by Michele Perniola and going to do nothing as always. They are The MOST underrated nation in esc, unfortunately.

I thought Luxembourg was one of the most Wealthiest and richest countries in Europe.
But yeah, shame that it is not going to participate.

Very good news! Luxembourg will never come back! RTL isn’t interesset in the competition! RTL have enough money for the contest but they take it for their trash TV (Shows)! Hope that they ever come back with an other new TV Channel!

I still can;t believe that Luxembourg cannot find sponsors to fund their participation in Eurovision whereas countries like Albania and Moldova take part every year.

If Luxembourg wants to be in Eurovision then it should do it by itself and don’t use San Marino. Good news
