Yesterday, BTRC revealed the fifteen entries that will compete in Eurofest 2015. Although we won’t have any “Cheesecake” in Minsk this year, there are definitely some tasty songs in the running to win the national selection. So now we have to ask you: Who should sing for Belarus at Eurovision 2015?
Maybe you like the fairytale-esque “I Believe In A Miracle”, by former Türkvizyon artist Gunesh? Or “Only Dance”, which channels 2Fabiola and Loredana’s “She’s After My Piano”? Does the oompah of Milki’s “Accent” get your toes tapping? We want to know! You can listen to the released songs below, and then vote in our poll. I just got finished listening to all 15, and I must say that Alex Rybak has the concept of putting forth quality contenders and songs (like Franklin’s “Still Here”) figured out.

As far as I know, Rybak’s family left Belarus – I don’t think they ran away. Were his parents or anyone from this family threatened by the authorities? If so, how? I’ve read Rybak’s biography and there was no word of any threats against his family.

For me, the best song is “Time”, but I don’t like the guy’s voice.
“Accent” is a mix of “Dancing Lasha Tumbai”, “Party for Everybody” and “Fairytale”.
Let’s start with the fact that the national selection was obviously rigged, as it happens every year in Belarus. The brightest, creative, new and young were Sweet Brains. This is confirmed by the fact that thousands of Belarusians were outraged that they were not included in the final. This is the opinion of thousands of people! I am absolutely disgusted with the hype around the Milki band. Sorry, but it’s stupid about everything. The song Accent does not sounds like music with folk motifs, it sounds like ambitious shouts, bought in advance
Gunesh and her beautiful ballad “I believe in a miracle” should be the one for Vienna imo. Milki just has a weak song, not really bad, but just weak. I also like “Time” by Uzari and Maimuna and a few other songs.
@Vladimir – You fail to see the irony of it all: Rybak’s family ran away from BSSR in 1990, Rybak wins Eurovision 2009 and soon afterwards Rybak is royalty in Belarus and Russia where many of his musical projects and business alliances are forged. 25 years may have gone by since he was a 4 year old kid who was uprooted from BSSR, but in the name of the ‘music’, why should he care how many Belarusians disappeared under the rule of the present dictator, just like parts of his own family could have easily ‘disappear’ back in 1990?? Not everything is political. He is Norwegian, but he can be proud of his Belarussian origin and that does not mean that he’s anyone’s poster child. You would never think of e.g. Molly being a poster child of David Cameron just because she represented United Kingdom this year. But, as always, to most people from western Europe, everything about former communist countries is political. Someone sings under Belarussian/Russian/Ukrainian/whatever flag – for you it means that this person supports the country’s government. Such a biased way of thinking.
I think the winner is Muzzart or Uzari & Maimuna. That would be great!
Time should win, but Accent will win.
Maimuna & Uzari are definitely the best. The song is new and catchy! They look stylish and have a good combination of instrument and voice.
Can’t stand ‘Milki’ : it’s a cheap imitation of ‘My Slowianie’ with a Verka Serduchka accordion-laced dance tune. As far as Alexander Rybak is concerned, he sure knew how to make himself a national hero in Belarus after embracing his Belarusian roots soon after 2009, so anything but a victory would seem unthinkable, but I still find it somewhat distasteful that for someone whose own family was persecuted in Belarus as part of the USSR in 1990, he’s now flirting with a similar repressive regime as its token or poster child.
