The final of The Voice of Russia takes place on December 26, and the field has been narrowed to four contestants: Mariam Merabova, Alexander Bon, Alexandra Vorobyova, and Jaroslav Dronov. As our Russian blogger Dayana previously reported, it looks one of these four will sing for Russia at Eurovision 2015. That’s because Russia’s two major networks take turns choosing the country’s Eurovision contestant: one year Channel One chooses, the next year Russia 1 does it. Channel One, which runs The Voice, sees the show as an easy, cost-effective way to fulfill its Eurovision duties. It used this format to choose Dina Garipova back in 2013.

In any case, you can listen to the four acts in action on The Voice below. Some of you may recognise Mariam. She served as a backing vocalist for Dima Bilan at Eurovision 2006. Who do you think has what it takes to sing for Russia at Eurovision? Have a listen below and then let us know in the comments section.

Aleksey, a wiwireader in Russia, will be inside The Voice of Russia arena on Friday and live blogging the finale. You can follow along at eurovisionsongcontest.ru.

ALEXANDRA VOROBYOVA is good (not great) and the other 3 are really poor. Russia has a boatload of talented musicians and this is the best they can come up with?

First of all, comparing Yaroslav to Vorobiev is the biggest nonsense I read lately. I could give plenty of reasons and analysis why I think that’s a nonsense but currently it’s 1 AM and I wouldn’t be finished till the dawn so I better not. Yaroslav’s clear and powerful voice as an echo is simply perfect for eurovision stage,Russia please

Yaroslav will be the same as Vorobiev in 2011, I don’t think that it will be very hich points, even though Aleksandr will be great! He has amazing friend, he is very friendly, and he can play on cameras (Probably he is one on this year edirion, who looking to cameras during perfomances + as for that he received 81,9% of televoting – and it’s record of Russian Voice).
Alexander is the best for us this year. I would cry, if he could be in Vienna.

There’s always a girl with a really big voice in every TV singing competition, but she never ends up winning. In season three of Golos, this is Mariam. She has a great voice but I doubt she’ll win. I can’t see her doing that well in Eurovision either, but I do like her voice. Alexander is amazing. I love his voice and with a good song he’d be great for Eurovision. I can’t say one bad thing about him. I can’t stand it when people cover “Listen”. I don’t even like the original but when people cover it they can’t… Read more »

All of the finalist are pretty good. But I don’t think, that ALEXANDRA VOROBYOVA will win, because she will be the third winner in a row from Gradskiy’s team. Our polls, online voting, predictions, bookmakers say that Bon should win (Bilan’s team). And I will suport him or Mariam.
P.S. Thanks Wiwi for publishing

Some people would call Alexandra Vorobyova a “drunken idiot.” Yikes!

Haha. Mariam Merabova has already been on Eurovision. She was the back up vocalist for Koldun in 2007, Ani Lorak in 2008 and Eva Rivas in 2009. Would love to see her represent Russia even though she is not Russian.

Think about it, this could be a hard choice to me. If there was Maleo, Mr. Ardi’s band, I could have chosen them for Russia. Alisa Kozhikina? She’s unlikely, she’s only 11 years old, doesn’t fit in the regular Eurovision. But if you insist me, I’d choose Yaroslav Dronov.
