After weeks of speculation, RTVE has finally answered Eurofan dreams. Today it confirmed that the hotly-tipped Edurne — full name Edurne García Almagro — will sing for Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest 2015! Edurne, who we first reported on back in December, is a fantastic choice. She’s fresh and modern — and lady can sing! Her song “Amanecer” (Sunrise), has been written by Eurovision veteran Tony Sánchez-Olhsson.

The press conference is taking place now. You can watch it here.

Just moments before the press conference she changed her Twitter header to this:
edurne eurovision

Team Wiwi have been getting super-hyped ever since Edurne’s manager said she was interested in competing at Eurovision.

Edurne has held a successful television career alongside her music and we’ve no doubt she’s going to werk it out on stage in Vienna.

What’s her composer’s background?

Olhsson will be recognised by most for producing Pastora Soler’s 10th place 2012 entry ‘Quedaté Conmigo’.

He was also behind Brequette’s ‘Run’ at Mira Quién va a Eurovisión and D’NASH’s ‘I love you Mi Vida’ at the Eurovision Song Contest 2007.

He also entered four songs at the Spanish national selection in 2010.

Olhsson might have served up fierce ballads for Brequette and Pastora, but he can also throw it down on the dance floor with D’NASH. After watching Edurne’s Shakira cover on Your Face Sounds Familiar we know she’s gonna be amazing!

Wow, she sounds amazing! Oh my god, this years contest is going to be one of the best in YEARS. I mean, copenhagen and malmo were fantastic, but oh my days.

This is such a modern fresh sound, i love it. Lets see the song, but i have a feeling spain will be my #1 this year.

So far she seems like a complete change of direction from Spain from their latest entries, a more fresh and modern style, let’s hope it works out for Spain! Can’t wait to hear her song.

I would like to see a song in Spanish language winning the contest, as a Sephardic Jew who’s from a Ladino speaking family in Istanbul.

Ruth was my official runner-up, after Molly, in the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest and hope that they will have such a cool entry as Ruth’s this year too.

Good luck Spain! Madrid 2016!

I think the hype surrounds her whole image, she is just what Spain needed to bring them into the current century! Ruth was great last year, but it still wasn’t ‘modern’ as it was another power ballad. Edurne reminds me a lot of Lady Gaga in her image. If it’s the case with ‘Amanecer’ then she will sure be remembered. Could easily be the best of the year so far if the song is of good quality, which looks likely given the writer. Good luck Spain and Edurne!

Looks extremely overhyped to me. What’s the big deal with her? Her songs are far from amazing, so is her voice. Why the buzz?

Wow, she’s extremely beautiful. Can’t wait for the song reveal. Pastora, ESDM, and Ruth were all amazing in my opinion, so please Spain don’t break your streak now (not that I think you will).

Read more »

Very good news for my country and, of course, for Europe. Edurne is representing us in the Eurovision! We really appreciate her, she is absolutely charming and talented. The song title is “Amanecer”, which is sung in Spanish.
