Watching the first semi-final in Cyprus, many Eurovision Song Project fans were surprised to see Eva Diva get the axe and fail to reach the second semi. All the jurors praised her entry “Come And Fight For Freedom” at the first audition. Viewers agreed, commenting that she was easily the best act of the first show. Now she’s openly questioning what happened during Eurochallenge 1 and pointing the blame squarely on guest juror Christer Bjorkman.

Swedish Bjorkman was not fond of Miss Diva. He argued that her act was low-quality, mainly beacuse of her clothes. This caused the hashtag #EurovisionCy to take fire on Twitter.

“I was really sad. To me, it was very important to sing this song at Eurovision. It emitted different messages,” Eva said after the show. “I was angry with Christer. He did not act objectively, he is not professional. This is a singing contest, not a fashion one! He did not even say a word about my entry, whereas all the other judges did.”

She also alleges that Christer has a very personal grudge against her team: “Christer set war to me and my producer, Henrik Bie, who comes from Sweden and had arguements with Christer at the past”.

Here’s the back story. Henrik Bie was the producer of Caracola’s entry “Smilling In Love” at Melodifestivalen 2008, which was elliminated during the Second Chance show. The following year he sued Bjorkman and SVT, with the accussation he pre-determined which entries would pass and which would not. Nothing came of the lawsuit, and Bjorkman and SVT were cleared of any wrongdoing.

Eva is now breathing fire. Here are some posts, attacking Christer, CyBC and the Eurovision Song Project. We have had to * the many expletives.

“Tell me please which other country does boot camp for the Eurovision Song Contest? Its all bull sh*t! they should choose 20 singers and let the public decide! I was called many BAD things on the show,Like FAKE and my clothes were critisized.. Christer Björkman – Mr Melodifestival U ARE AN A**HOLE AND YOU LOOK LIKE ONE TOO… DONT F*CK*NG TELL ME ABOUT MY CLOTHES LISTEN TO THE F*CK*NG SONG!!!!!!!!!!! DONT MATTER WHAT YOU WEAR DOES IT?IS THIS A FASHION COMPETITION?
I HAD TO PAY FOR THE CLOTHES I WAS WEARING-I HAD TO PAY A DANCE SCHOOL TO HELP ME WITH MY MOVES AND THEN WE GET CRITISIZED ON TOP FOR LOOKING GOOD-GO AND F*CK YOUR SELVES !!!!!!
THE ONLY FAKE PERSON HERE IS THE F*CK*NG TV NOT ME!
THIS IS NOT THE END -BEC I DONT LET ANYONE MAKE A FOOL OF ME!
Cyprus will never go forward and it shows…always and forever making the same f*ck*ng mistakes.you wanted to bring Christer Björkman bec it makes cyprus look good …HOW DARE RIK BRING HIM…. WHAT FOR??? HE MADE EVERYONE LOOK BAD EVERY ONE HE NEVER HAD ANYTHING NICE TO F*CK*NG SAY!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS WHY I DONT GO ON ANY COMPETITION IN CYPRUS BEC ITS A F*CKING MAFIA PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

ELENI IRAKLEOUS’ ELIMINATION WAS UNFAIR

That’s what many Eurofans said, as well as juror Alex Panayi:

This girl is fooling herself … does she expect me to believe this song was any worth even listening to? Cheap and cheezy! I never pay attention to Björkman but I’m sorry for once this guy was spot on … people have to stop thinking that 90s-dance-crap-music is what Eurovision needs and more important than that, bother to sing properly or just stay out of this for heaven’s sake. And commenting on the dress as all he had to say? No wonder! What is one person supposed to say to a song like this anyway? And someone tell this girl… Read more »

Christer Bjorkman is the one who manage the Swedish Melodifestivalen, this is very strange of Swedish Television as public service. But will say the song isn´t good so not suprise Eva Diva failed! I think cause that!

I am not on anyones side on this one. Christer shouldn’t really be putting the attention on the dress, but If I am gonna have to be serious, then Eva is just butthurt… If the other juries REALLY did love her song so much, they would have picked her as one of the qualifiers. One man out of 6-7 juries does not determind one non-qualifier. She shouldn’t even compete in any competition in Cyprus if she now is going to act like this…

It’s not Christer’s fault that there isn’t any talent in Cyprus this year. He comes from Sweden. I mean: SWEDEN. He is the show producer of Melodifestivalen, which has a lot of quality, in both songs and singers. It’s not about Eva’s dress. That’s only an excuse for not talking about her weak vocals and her average poor song. Maybe she should pay some singing and education lessons first.

The song is okay and probably she should have been in the final, but I wish she had shown more grace. Now she will not be remembered as a singer who should have been in the final – most people will remember her as a rude and bitter person. That’s unfortunate.

Im not Christer Bjorkman’s biggest fan but he is there to do a job.Seeing as Come and Fight for Freedom is shockingly bad id say he did it.
I dont like the idea of bootcamps and juries pulling acts apart in ESC selection shows however. It should be down to a jury/televote without comment.Treating ESC selection shows like some version of X-Factor is wrong.Christer was right about the song, but the producers should never of come up with the format in the first place.

Laying aside Björkman’s comments, that song had no business passing to the third stage.

The best song? I don’t think so, this one was actually pretty cringeworthy, probably one of my least favourites Cyprus had to offer.

Eva’s song was quite cheap. Cliché lyrics, nothing special. Catchy it was, indeed, but furthermore very annoying xD She wouldn’t have made it out the semis for sure.

And also, there were five other juries if I’m not mistaken :p Things would be weird if this whole NF’s qualifiers list was made of Christer’s opinion XD

Her outfit should be least of her worries. What a complete horror song. Are there really people who still think that this kind of crap is what eurovision is about? And did she really pay a dance school for those moves?

@Dhani lol, then why don’t the international juries at Melodifestivalen all vote for the worst songs to give their respective countries a better chance in Eurovision?

i agree with her. Christer wants to ruin cyprus chances and send all the good acts home so sweden will get a better place in esc !!! only bad songs are left now in the cypriot nf

If she was really booted only because of her clothes and one guy’s opinion which has been biased by a personal spat, then that would certainly be a big problem.

Well she ks kind of right although she couldve said it with less F words. I didnt like christer also. I mean he liked almost nothing. He never smiled. I dont know how to feel about that christer.
Still sad that eva diva is sent home.

Talk about being immature. Even if you don’t agree with his opinion, there’s no need to go on a tantrum, making yourself look like an entitled little brat.
