After months of build-up, the first heat of A Dal 2015 is now over. Ten of this year’s 30 acts took to the stage and the performers were scored by a four-member jury, while the audience served as a fifth member with a mobile application. The top five automatically advanced, with Passed leading the way, followed by Vera Tóth. Fan favourite Bogi finished a surprisingly low third, while Gabi Szucs and Karmapolis also made it through.

A Dal: First Semi-Final Qualifiers

Passed – Mesmerize – 43 pts

Vera Tóth – Gyémánt – 39 pts

Bogi – World of Violence – 38 pts

Gabi Szucs – Úgy Sem Felejtesz El – 37 pts

Karmapolis – Time Is Now – 37 pts

The sixth qualifier

While those five sat back and celebrated, the remaining five acts had to endure a drawn-out public vote.

Bori Magyar – Lead Me To Heaven – 29 pts
Balázs Farkas-Jenser – Liar – 37 pts
Gergo Szakacs – Osz Utca – 33 pts
Timi Antal – Woke Up This Way – 33 pts
MDC – Maniac – 31 pts

After that the lines were opened, the television viewing audience decided on the last act. Democracy in action! Timi Antal made it through with her song Woke Up This WayShe was clearly relieved!

Bogi must WIN 😀

Yeah, the stream was absolutely horrible. I thought it was due to problems on my end but I’m not surprised to see that someone else had trouble with it, given how long it took to reload.

I’m really bummed out at how bad the stream was. It cut out often and I’d have to refresh several times before the video would load again. It made it pretty hard to watch. But, besides that, I think we had a pretty good first heat. I’m surprised that Passed was in first, because although the song is cool and I was really digging the harp, the vocals were out of tune and rather weak. Maybe the singer was just nervous? I thought Vera and Bogi sang much better, especially Vera, who had a very strong voice. I was disappointed… Read more »

So relieved Bogi came third! =)

I hope such a linear song does not make it to the ESC…

Top 6 of the qualifiers:
1. Bogi (Beautiful song!)
—-Large Gap——
2. Karmapolis (Quite a nice surprise for this genre)
3. Gabi Szucs (Nothing special but pretty good)
—–Gap———
4. Passed (Really lacking a catch)
5. Vera Toth (Boring!)
6. Timi Antal (I like the verses but the chorus makes my ears hurt)

I don’t think much of Timi unlike others. The lyrics are beyond terrible. A cheap Paramore rip-off with little chance of actually winning A Dal.

I felt like Vera sang her song with little emotion. Unfortunately because of a lousy internet connection I couldn’t really say more about the rest. Wasn’t too impressed by Gergo either.

It’s occurred to me that I don’t actually like any of the songs this year except Kati’s. Don’t get me wrong. I really want to like something other than “Ne engedj el,” but nothing really appeals to me.

Good one Antal. Bogi made it which is great. So long as Kati wins I don’t mind. Ne Engedj El could bring us to Budapest next year.

I’m surprised that the juries didn’t give as much points to Bogi as I thought they would. Glad that Timi managed to get through.

I really like ”World of Violence” by Bogi. It reminds me of both ”Is it True” by Yohanna and “This is my life” by Anna Bergendahl. But I think where this could work where Anna fell for Sweden 5 years ago is that is actually has a really good rhythm and a key change whereas the only thing that was even remotely memorable were her Christina Aguilera style vocals, the fact that she wore a white dress with converse (and failing to qualify). But back to Bogi, “World of Violence” has a really good rhythm, key change and I don’t… Read more »

Luckily Bogi and Antal got through but I think they should have placed 1st and 2nd respectively . They’re my two favorites to go to Vienna.

@Everyone – Antal isn’t the name you’re supposed to address her with, it’s Timi. In Hungary surnames are written before given names like in Eastern Asia.

Really happy Passed won the heat as they’re one of my favourites. Kinda annoyed Gabi and Timi made it though, can’t stand either of them. Gergo deserveded it more than both of them imo. A Dal is the one national final with a smart jury I must say though.

So disappointed, Gergo Szakacs was my favourite from the 30, but oh well.

What is going on with the Jury? Luckily the televoters saved them and put one of the best songs back onto the competition.

Super happy for Vera & Bogi. Also happy for Antal, who just managed to make it to the semis :3
