After a spectacular show with ten very different songs, Denmark has chosen Basim’s Eurovision successor. Anti Social Media won Dansk Melodi Grand Prix with their Brit-pop inspired “The Way You Are”, edging out tough competition from former Junior Eurovision star Anne Gadegaard with “Suitcase”. The boy band — who told us in a recent interview that they do play instruments — finished with 104 points, just six ahead of Anne.

I like this song, it’s catchy and for me it kinda stood out. It’s cheerful and catchy, when it comes to Danish entries, I really enjoy the happy-go-lucky songs.
I really hope it will make to the Eurovision final.

I really like this song this year from Denmark but I just don’t think it will win but I hope it does really well in Vienna

Awww, I like this one! It’s a sunny, scrub-clean pop song, and that doesn’t hurt anyone as far as Eurovision is concerned.

I can see why their song won…Funky catchy and fun…I can even claim that i like it in degree at least..Although its not great one of course..
But i don’t like them..
Did not want them to win last night…Really pity that they did…Im disappointed with the result of the Dansk like all of us…
The Danes people wanted another act to represent them in Vienna’s Vision but the juries had different opinion as it seems….Too bad..

just shocked.. nr 2,3,4 or 5 would’ve done way and way better, can’t believe the jury gave so many points to a well singing band, which doesn’t have a strong song

I told you all so!!! That was my favourite from the beginning! I love it, but I don’t think it’ll do that well unfortunately…

PP – Nope, he says that the results match the SMS too and there was no fault with that so unfortunately there's nothing that they can do. App or no app, the results would have had the same outcome… Apparently!.

It’s funny reading replies on this board whenever a country picks its winner. It appears that we will have no acts in the final since every country’s selections are doomed to die in the semi’s.

Denmark’s song is OK. Much better than most of the announced songs in the first Semi Final.  I think this Semi Final may struggle to find 10 good songs.

Estonia will lap this one up, and maybe points from UK/Ireland if it qualfiies

I kind of got that feeling. So I linked the name of the band and the song title together and I got cyber bullying.

The point is, it isn’t even that bad. I kinda like it, although I prefered others. It might just qualify, but only JUST. They miss some voting partners, but I can see this getting minimal 6 points from NL, Belgium, Finland, Hungary (it’s a song I wouldn’t be suprised to see in A Dal) and maybe Estonia.

Now I really don’t understand, why Europe chose acts that some people hate? Denmark doesn’t deserve to go out from the first semi-final. The Anti Social Media boys will surely qualify to the final, whatever it takes!

I knew ASM would win 🙁
It’s like every powerhouse country is sabotaging themselves so they don’t win, LOL!
Lets hope Spain shocks us (in a good way) with Edurne’s song and wins after all these years, or maybe a country that never has won before wins this year!

I also hope that Estonia doesn’t screw it up by not choosing “Goodbye to Yesterday”…

It’s not a great song, but not terrible either… I’m on the fence with this one. Denmark has no chance of winning, that i am sure.

Well done Denmark, you screwed up. This better not qualify.

Also please edit this article. Calling this ‘Britpop’ is an insult to the genre, plus most of the songs tonight were of massively poor quality.

LucyEAPercy

My god this is dull…I would certainly not call this Brit-pop. It’s a bit The Feeling, who has a couple of successful songs and that’s about it…really won’t be voting for Denmark this year, which is a shame as I love their songs usually.

Me and my best friend watched the show (thanks Wiwibloggs for the link for the livestream!). We hadn’t listened to the songs beforehand, so we would be surprised and curious in comparison to the real Eurovision. We fell in love with Just The Way You Are – they looked like students from Noord-Brabant, a Dutch province. It was the only song to be stuck in my head. Those background singers with their awful dresses were memorable as well. Anyway, I’m so happy for them! Definitely my new #1. Greetings from the Netherlands!

There were four or five songs that I would have been very fine with winning. As Anti Social Media played again at the end I was very happy with the choice. It will contribute to a good show.

Really loved Sara Sakurani with Love me love me. Was much better. Still shocked that it got underrated up to last placed.

Why are countries choosing such horrible songs. Anne won the televote and should go to Vienna. Denmark are NOT qualifying this year. I don’t know which is worse Cyprus choosing Giannis or Denmark choosing Anti Social Media.

P.S. I cant wait till Edurne reveals her song!!! 🙂

Thiefo

Sara’s live performance certainly wasn’t great, but did she really deserve last place? In the latest moments I was rooting for Cecile, Hotel A was also one of my favourites, then when it was certain the race would be between ASM and Anne I was rooting for Anne…

So yeah, not that pleased with the results, they weren’t my favourites at any point, but the same happened with UMK last year, when I was not a fan of Softengine and they grew up on me, let’s see if the same happens this year with ASM.

It’s not awful, and the lead singer is pretty good live, but the song is utterly annoying and repetitive.

Ohhh Denmark, you did it again… After that crazy choice last year of Basim over Michael & Natascha, now we’ll have to endure this nonsense group. Certainly Suitcase would have been a perfect choice. Hope not to see the danish at the final…

I get the feeling that this song will have the same fortunes as Pollapönk for Iceland last year. I personally like it and I suppose this song highlights the issue of cyber bullying (Which is a huge issue for teenagers especially.) and bullying as a whole. Which I think is a really good thing as the Eurovision Song Contest is free of any bullying or harassment (I don’t know if there’s a code of ethical conduct in ESC like there is in JESC that bans bullying, harassment and discrimination ETC.). So this is the best way of getting their message… Read more »
