Tonight Satin Circus will fight for one of the three tickets to the Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK) 2015 final. We sat down with the band and talked about their song “Crossroads“, as well as their favourite Eurovision memories and much more.

Kristian, Axel, Olli and Paul tell us that the song is about growing up. The band has been together five years and during that time they’ve grown a lot. The metaphor “standing at the crossroads” explains how they are still trying to decide what they want to do with their lives, but also how their second album will sound like. And of course, there’s a love story in the song too.

The boys also reveal that they had some other songs which they could’ve sent to UMK, but they thought “Crossroads” was the best choice. Paul, who takes lead vocals on the track, says that he was a enormous Eurovision fan before, but they all watch the contest every year. Saxophone player Axel says that Moldova’s 2010 entry “Run Away” is his most memorable entry – Epic Sax Guy’s gotta stay together y’all! Axel also explains that while there isn’t a saxophone solo in the recorded version of the song, he’s managed to get as part of the live version.

Finally the band want to tell all the wiwibloggs readers that if they win UMK15, they will drive a van throughout Europe all the way to Vienna. Let’s hope they don’t get lost at any “Crossroads” along the way if they do!
