Sanremo 2015’s fourth night took place last night, and we finally got around to the first eliminations! Sadly, it seems as if Eurovision experience was cursed, as two of the three artists in Sanremo 2015 with Eurovision experience were booted. Yes, we regret to say that neither Lara Fabian nor Raf will be winning Sanremo 2015 or Eurovision 2015 for Italy.

In tonight’s show of Sanremo 2015, the 20 established artists each performed their competing song. The bottom four artists were eliminated from the pack. As well as Lara and Raf, seven-time Sanremo singer Anna Tatangelo and the duo Biggio & Mandelli were also dropped. In brighter news, however, one of the former Italian Eurovision representatives in Sanremo 2015, Nina Zilli, is still competing with all of her strength. Local favorites for the victory, Nek and Il Volo, also are placing high. Watch videos from Sanremo 2015 at the Italian broadcaster RAI.

Sanremo New Artists

The final for the up-and-coming artists also took place. The qualifiers from the first semifinal, KuTso and Giovanni Caccamo, sang against qualifiers from the second semifinal, Amara and Enrico Nigiotti, respectively. Both of the qualifiers from the first semifinal triumphed against those from the second semifinal, leading to Giovanni Caccamo‘s victory in the New Artists section with “RitornerĂČ da te”.

Tonight, the 16 remaining established artists will face off for the final time to determine the winner of Sanremo 2015, and possibly the representative for Italy in Eurovision 2015. Who do you think should win Sanremo 2015?

@YoungsterJoey,
There are actually 4 co-hosts on this year’s Sanremo Music Festival. The male one is Carlo Conti, an Italian TV presenter. One of the female co-hosts we’ll all know is Emma Marrone. The other two females are Arisa (2009 winner on the newcomers music section) and Spanish presenter and model RocĂo Muñoz Morales (she’s gorgeous and yes, she’s fluent in Italian).

My favorite is IL Volo, but many tv viewers and members of juries , if they got at Eurovision 2016 wili be think that they try to copy gropu IL Divo, and that wili be only problem .

I thought the show had 3 female hosts yet I see a guy with them taking command/the lead. Was he always confirmed to be the host too? Or was there some form a sexism about letting 3 independent women host?

IL VOLO brought down the house with their 5 minute standing ovation of GRANDE AMORE (Great Love)…. the deserve to win. They are the only group of native Italians that are already famous internationally, but for some reason had been virtually ignored in their native Italy… until now. Plus the critics hate their operatic pop type of music. And as everyone knows… the critics are usually wrong!

I hope Nina Zilli will win. I’m so sad for Lara Fabian. Italy has many worse songs and artists, why Lara? :'(
