The five songs competing to represent Ireland at Eurovision 2015 have been online for well over a week now, and hundreds of y’all have already decided your favourites. As at 14:00 GMT 19 February, 1,341 votes have been cast. It’s looking very much like a two lady race.

THE LEADERS

If the voting at the mid-way stage is anything to go by, Nikki is heading towards victory, but only just. With 518 votes (38.63%) the “Memories” singer currently sits atop our poll, a spot she’s occupied since the beginning.

Nikki Kavanagh “Memories”

However, she shouldn’t get too comfy. With 509 votes (37.96%), Swedish native Erika Selin just needs ten more votes to knock Nikki off her perch.

Erika Selin “Break Me Up”

The Rest

The remaining three entries are trailing well behind. The best of the rest is Molly Sterling with 173 votes (12.9%). Kat Mahon is next with 105 votes (7.83%), while Alex Saint seems to be completely out of the running, gathering a meagre 35 votes (2.64%) thus far.

  4. “Anybody Got A Shoulder” Kat Mahon 7.83% (105 votes)

THE POLL

Of course this could all change. There’s still one full week before the poll closes. So go on, vote now! You can vote for as many contestants as you like, but you can only vote ONE time. Be sure to check the box next to every act you want to support before submitting your votes. Voting ends on Thursday 26 February at 17:00 GMT—just ahead of the Final on 27 February.

this link is the entry, at 2:18 in the video there is a part that i feel defiantly needs backing singers, what you think?

Just because erika has the most votes doesn’t mean she is going to win.
1. Most irish people know Nikki and will vote for her
2. The jury will need to vote
3. Over 500,00 tune into the show and vote doesn’t mean that erika will win
4. We might go for something different

@Realist One thing I left out in the song is that they also described the meaning behind the song. Memories is a song that both men and women can relate to easily. As it can remind remind people of a time in their life where they fell in love and that relationship just folded in on them. She also said that there are songs on the radio that can remind people of that time in their life. Nikki has one moment in particular where that happened in her life and she will be thinking of that when she is performing… Read more »

I want memories to win because it has a meaning unlike BREAK ME UP there is nothing special about it

@Realist I’m not too sure how to phrase it. But I would imagine no. She also said that the song was done without any dubbing or layering. She’s not like Kasey Smith in that Nikki doesn’t flute around the stage, she just stands there and gives it her best shot. Another thing they discussed in the interview was the vocal range and it’s enormity. Again, it was all done in one note without any dubbing or layering. She also said that Memories is a song where you have to give it 110% vocally. There’s no way around it. She also… Read more »

@deven

did she say if there would be backing vocalists? yes i know she is a fantastic singer but this song i think will need backing singers to work well, especially the bit before the final chorus.

I saw an interview with Nikki Kavanagh earlier on. She said that it will be dim lit with rays of light. She also said that there will be no dancers (Praise the Lord.) as it will be distracting from her performance. I also asked Nikki on FB if she will do a promotional tour around Europe in an effort to boost her chances and she said yes. So, she seems committed. Also, Nikki’s experience will help her win. She has been involved in Eurosong 6 of the last 7 years. She’s the Irish Sanna Nielsen. I suspect with Erika and… Read more »

I think Erika has a better chance at reaching grand finals & ranking Top 10. For Nikki, its 50/50. I really hope their stage performances will be great though.

I really like Erika’s song! Nikki doesn’t really do it for me (and I like Amber’s song).
Also, I haven’t listened to these songs in a week and when I saw the title of Erika’s song the beat came right back to me, could be a good thing during voting!

My heart is telling me Erika to win.

But my head is saying Nikki.

I would be pleased for either act to represent Ireland. Only one will get my vote next Friday. My vote will go to the song that is presented as the best overall package. So I will be paying attention to the visuals, the vocals, design, staging potential, likeability, audience feedback. Etc.

If Malta ends up in trouble, it won’t be because of Nikki. It will be because many people who will have heard Nina Sublatti’s “Warrior” on Day 1 will think it was a much better “Warrior” than Amber’s.

This is going to be very close on the night. I honestly can’t call it anymore. I want Nikki to qualify because she has the voice and she has the song to go very far. But the staging in Vienna will the difference between success and failure. Some people are concerned that if Nikki represents Ireland, Malta will be in trouble in the semi finals. I think not. I think there is room for both Ireland and Malta in the final. If their presentations are good enough. Erika is good as well. But I’m not sure if her song will… Read more »

I prefer Erika!

Nikki’s song is nice, but not outstanding in my opinion, especially when they have “Warrior” and “Time to Shine” in their semi-final, which are.. the same style of ballad.

Erika’s song is a very middle of the road country pop number with a very predictable structure and that key note change after the final pre-chorus. There is no real sense of gratification after hearing it, but you can’t take away the fact that she’s got an impressive vibrato, vocal technique and control. This song may have done well in 2002 like Anna Sahlene’s ‘Runaway’, but this is 2015 and the points will likely come from Scandinavia, Germany, Australia and the UK. I don’t see this song actually building enough bridges to make the top of the scoreboard result in… Read more »

I still gotta go with Erika. She has the song that will get Ireland back into the finals. But I must say, Molly’s isn’t too bad, either.

Erika or Nikki easily. Just depends on the live performances as both are good songs with (hopefully) good live vocals.

Nikki’s song compared to Amber’s and Nina’s is laughably bad.
Erika’s song would be a better choice but it’s nothing special. Actually,I don’t like any of the songs but let’s say Erika’s song is the least bad one.

It’s funny how some people say that they scream when we have singers with this kind of powerfull voice like Nikki’s one, it has happened to several singers in the past, spanish singers Pastora Soler in 2012 and Ruth Lorenzo in 2014 can tell you. I would love to ‘scream’ that way. BUT, THE FACT IS THAT IF THEY CAN SUSTEIN AND CONTROL THAT NOTE, THEY’RE SINGING IN A WONDERFULL WAY… So stop saying Nikki’s song is full of screams, please, those are high notes of singing. Anyways i hope any of these top two ladies win, they have both… Read more »

i love how people are downing Nikki just because she is Screaming when infact a majority of songs in this years contest have screaming singers and a majority of ballads in the past had screaming singers, its just people trying to pick holes in what is a brilliant ballad.

Personally I think Nikki has a stunning voice, she proved this with Falling all those years ago. The thing is there are so many female vocalists this year taking the same musical technique. However I still think she trumps most or all of them and I’d easily put her top of my list I originally didn’t love Erika but now I want to send her to Vienna. The song is so catchy and we’re really lacking the dance tracks this year, and it doesn’t sound like anything else! I think it would sail through the semi but I don’t think… Read more »

Erika Selin has the best song… Nikkis song is a scream fest….

Erika to Vienna!

my favourite is Erika but that songs chances of doing well at eurovision are touch and go and in the Knowledge that RTE are involved it would not want to risk it, i’d say Nikki is the song that could get ireland to the top again, i seriously think we could get a top 5 potentially with the right staging, and i have never been this confident before about our entry!
